The HOPPERS stars recently got together to share their own “pond rules,” like their characters in the movie have.
“What are the rules for making a great Pixar movie?” asked Bobby Moynihan, who plays beaver King George.
“One of the main rules for making a phenomenal Pixar movie is having Daniel Chong at the helm,” said Piper Curda, who plays Mabel. “I mean, this wouldn’t be half the movie it is without him and his direction and his brain…I mean that’s the one of the keys to this movie.”
“We got to have tears, too,” added Dave Franco, who plays Titus. “Got to have em cry.”
“Humor, honesty, heart, all the stuff that starts with H,” joked Jon Hamm, who plays Mayor Jerry.
Curda next asked, “What are your rules for being a good friend?”

Hamm believes in putting in a lot of effort.
“My best friend moved to Australia like 15 years ago and so I don’t get to see him very often, but it was very funny during pandemic. Boy, we were on that on that FaceTime quite a lot,” he laughed.
Curda and Moynihan shared their rules for voice acting animals.
“I think if I was playing an animal officially, I would maybe think more about doing a voice, but because I was just playing a human, I just went with mine, which I guess worked,” Curda said.
“I’m the exact same shape as King George, so I just did it,” Moynihan joked.
Hamm said, “What I do think is amazing too is that somehow — and this is obviously the incredible talent of the animators and the team behind this — but you start to over the course of this performance and when we’re recording all this, you start to see this stuff coming back and all the early renderings and versions and you’re like, ‘Wait, that’s kind of starting to really look like me.’”
Movieguide® gave HOPPERS a -1 rating for mild violence and highly recommends it for families with older children.
Part of Movieguide®’s review reads, “Beautifully animated, HOPPERS tells a delightful, wacky, hilarious story with fun twists and turns. Despite some Romantic, environmentalist content, the movie ends up on strong morally uplifting notes. For example, it has some pro-life themes. Also, the humans and animals decide to work together to create a paradise for both worlds.”
Box office analyst Paul Dergarabedian says HOPPERs has received the best reviews for a Pixar movie in a decade.
“Original animated films such as DOG MAN, THE WILD ROBOT and most recently GOAT have all done very well because they’re actually good movies,” said Dergarabedian, and HOPPERS is expected to equally do well. “That’s a currency that can deliver dividends for the long term.”
HOPPERS is available in theaters now.
