WHEN CALLS THE HEART Creator Reveals How Long He Wants Show to Run

By Movieguide® Contributor

WHEN CALLS THE HEART creator and producer Brian Bird recently commented on his hopes for the series’ future.

“As I’ve said many times over the last decade, you Hearties are the reason for the show. I think one of the big reasons that the show is still going strong is all of you,” Bird said at the annual 2023 “Hearties Family Reunion” in Vancouver, Canada.

“And I believe that long after the show has ended its run—which we hope is many, many seasons from now; we’re going to try to catch up with ‘The Simpsons,’ which is in season 42 or something like that, so you got a ways to go (but) we’re going to try…you will still be here,” he continued.

Many fans reacted with excitement on Instagram.

“…My wish is for WHEN CALLS THE HEART to continue for many seasons,” one user posted.

“This was awesome, such an amazing show #Hearties,” another said.

However, Bird explained that despite his wishes, the fate of the show is not up to him.

“The network orders a certain number of episodes. We, the production company, produce those episodes for the network. So, it’s really not up to us how many,” he shared.

“There’s also something to be said for the anticipation,” Bird added. “You know, you love the show so much. You can’t wait till it returns and so there’s this incredible anticipation while that’s happening.”

Season 10 launched on July 30, and season 11 has already begun filming after receiving a SAG-AFTRA waiver.

Movieguide® recently reported that Bird’s production company, True Brand Entertainment, has partnered with UPtv to produce positive, family-friendly content.

WHEN CALLS THE HEART creator Brian Bird and his production company True Brand Entertainment announced a partnership with UPtv.

“True Brand Entertainment, founded by Bird, Brandon Clark, Tai Truesdell and Darin Chavez, and the network have a multi-picture licensing agreement, creating a series of uplifting and values-friendly romantic comedies,” Variety reported…

“In this age of a thousand TV shows all clamoring for attention, it’s impossible to break through the noise without passionate fans to help spread the love,” Bird said.

“In this age of a thousand TV shows all clamoring for attention, it’s impossible to break through the noise without passionate fans to help spread the love,” Bird said.  “When everywhere else on TV there are only zombies and vampires and crystal meth dealers 24-7/365, it leaves a massively undeserved audience starved for uplifting content.”

Should WHEN CALLS THE HEART run as long as THE SIMPSONS?
