Christian artist Seph Schlueter’s path into the worship music space wasn’t easy.
“I really loved music throughout my whole childhood,” Schlueter recently told CHVN Radio. “In high school is really when I began to play the guitar and start to sing for the first time. For me, it was such a cool way to connect to my emotions and express something. I became so captivated by music.”
“Christian and worship music in particular was where I encountered the Lord in powerful ways,” he continued. I thought all this other music is cool because it helps me express something. But this worship music that I found is helping me encounter someone. I got to meet the person I was singing about.”
Flash forward to after high school, Schlueter wrote a song for a retreat, and when he played it, many people urged him to record it. That’s when he sent the song to “40 different people in the CCM world,” CHVN Radio reported.

“I didn’t know anyone in the music industry or where to send my music. An artist I followed on Instagram made a post thanking a bunch of people at her label, so I wrote down all their names and sent my song to them as well as a bunch of artists I looked up to. That usually doesn’t work too well,” he previously told K-LOVE.
“Phil [Wickham] was one of the only people to respond to me. He’s just so kind and such an amazing guy,” Schlueter said. “We had a couple of brief back-and-forths. In November, he was going on a three-day tour in Florida. It was the first post-COVID thing he was doing, and I sent him a DM, like, ‘If you’re looking for someone to open for you,’ and he said yes to it, which is crazy. He’s just the most real person.”
Schlueter’s first single was “Counting My Blessings,” which reached 220 million streams and over 95 million YouTube views.
“I can see the power of music and the power of a song, what it can do to just bring Jesus to people,” Schlueter said. “Everything we do is an offering to the Lord and a gift we get to give him. It’s not up to us to multiply it. If He wants to multiply it like He did with the loaves and fish, great. If it’s just something small that He sees and He’s just loved by it, like the widow who brought her coin, that was all she had. Jesus didn’t multiply it, but He was loved by it.”
He dropped his first full-length album, Counting My Blessings, earlier this summer.
“This entire project is an invitation. It’s for anyone who’s ever doubted if they’re loved, if they’re seen. It’s a reminder that there is a Father who loves you, a Son who died for you and a Spirit who wants to dwell within you,” he said. “That truth has changed my life, and I hope these songs help others experience that, too.”
Now, he’s headlining his own tour. Starting Sept. 18 in Savannah, Georgia, Schlueter will bring his powerful praises to audiences across the country with his “Counting My Blessings” tour.
