Dodgers Shortstop Shares His Faith During Each Game By Doing This

NLCS Most Valuable Player Tommy Edman not only tells others about Jesus with his words and actions, but he uses his walk-up song before batting to proclaim his faith as well.

In a video shared by Christhlete, Edman explained why choosing the right song is so important for him.

“For me, the past couple of years, I used a worship song as my walk-up song. This past year was ‘Lion’ by Elevation Worship,” the Dodgers shortstop, who got to see Elevation Worship live the week prior, said. “But it’s cool because then when we go to those fan experiences, you hear from fans and their kids who are like, ‘Hey. We love your walk-up song. We love how you’re living out your faith.’ It’s a big inspiration, and it’s great for kids to hear.”

“So, to have the chance to do that and to hear the impact that we’re able to make, and other guys on our team — Goldie has a worship walk-up song as well — I think that’s one of the coolest things is to see the impact you’re able to make on fans’ lives, especially the young kids,” he said.

Edman also explained that he tries to use his time in the clubhouse to share his faith and take the focus off of himself.

“Then also, not only from the platform that we have but also in the clubhouse as well,” Edman said. “I’m always working on this because I tend to be kind of an introvert. I tend to get in my own head and think about my own routine and things that I need a little bit more. So, I try to make myself more aware of the emotional needs of other people in the clubhouse, which is kind of taking the attention away from myself and focusing on others more, which is obviously what Jesus exemplified so well.”

Edman praised God after winning the title NLCS MVP.

“God is just so good,” he said. “After the way the season started, to end up in this situation today is crazy. I’ve got an amazing team. They just welcomed me with open arms and I can’t wait to keep it going.”

The Dodgers triumphed over the New York Yankees in this year’s World Series.

“Thank you LA for welcoming my family with open arms! And thank you for showing out for us all season, especially yesterday!! LA knows how to celebrate!” Edman posted.
