Scott Foley’s new series, IT’S NOT LIKE THAT, will officially have a global release on Amazon Prime Video on May 15.

Deadline says it’s a faith-based series, which he co-stars in with Erinn Hayes, about grief, love and starting again.

It follows Foley as Malcolm, a pastor and widowed father of three. His friend, Lori, is a divorcee with two teens. With help from each other, they each navigate their new situation with warmth and humor.

Other cast members include J.R. Ramirez (David Soto), Caleb Baumann (Merritt Soto), Cary Christopher (Justin Jeffries), Leven Miranda (Flora Jeffries), Liv Lindell (Casey Soto) and Cassidy Paul (Penelope Jeffries).

Part of Movieguide®’s review of the first episode reads, “Episode 1 of IT’S NOT LIKE THAT does a good job introducing a large cast of characters and their individual problems while keeping the action moving. As Malcolm and Lori, Scott Foley and Erinn Hayes give excellent, moving performances, and the cast of younger actors are impressive. Episode 1 of IT’S NOT LIKE THAT has a strong Christian, moral, pro-family worldview.”

Hayes says the show highlights compassion and kindness.

“Meeting other people with grace,” she told Us Weekly. “That is [a message for] all humans.”

“Our show tackles faith in a very real way,” Hayes explained. “The conversations about faith and God occur with Malcolm and his family. They occur where they would occur in real life. It’s him talking to his kids and him talking about his own experience. Sometimes we’re in the church.”

She was drawn to the project because it explores the “human condition,” as she calls it.

She added, “Our writers are so good with every script having the depth and heart and humor too… It was just a lovely place to be doing work,” Hayes continued. “I think all of us are proud of the scripts and we were invested in the show.”

While Hayes dove right in, Foley was a little hesitant to play a pastor.

“He’s a community leader and he’s a faith leader as a pastor. There’s a lot of responsibility that comes with that but there’s also — more importantly — a faith and a belief that I find endlessly interesting for me to try to wrap my head around,” he said. “…It’s different than any character I’ve played and it’s much more complicated than I thought it would be.”

You can tune into the show on Prime Video on May 15.
