TV personality Jillian Michaels has some questions about salvation.
During a recent conversation with Christian and political commentator David Harris Jr., she asked, “From the outside, you look at this [Christianity] and you think, ‘Well what about the people who aren’t Christian? Do they go to hell?'”
“And I can’t reconcile that, David,” the former BIGGEST LOSER coach admitted. “Like if there’s a God — and I really hope there is, and I think there is, I believe that when it comes through a religion — it makes me nervous because I think it’s, on it’s face, exclusionary, and that scares me.”
Harris Jr. responded to her question with a thoughtful analogy.
“What I would say to that…we’re responsible for our own life first, right? And I believe that Jesus, He says that before the end comes, before He cracks the skies open and says, ‘Here I am…everything’s done now, basically, you’ve all had your chance,’ I think everyone will have their own chance to accept or deny Him. And I think it’s our responsibility as those that believe to share the good news of the gospel accurately.”

He gave a personal example to explain his point.
“I have two daughters. You have kids…I would never let either of my daughters take a murder rap sheet for anyone,” Harris said.
“I’ll be like, ‘Nope, they did the crime, they’re doing the time, period.’ But if for some reason she [his daughter] said, ‘I’m going to go through with this because I want to pay for the penalty for that other person’…If my daughter did that and that person comes to me and says ‘Well, I should be able to get into heaven because I was a good person.’ What about your penalty? What about your sin?”
Harris explained that at the end of the day, he would want to criminal to admit the one thing he believes God wants us to admit.
“The only thing I want to know is did you recognize what my child did for you?” he said.
If you are unsure of where you stand with Christ, know that we all have sinned, falling short of God’s standard and in need of a savior. Thankfully, His son, Jesus, came to earth as a human to live a perfect life so that He could die and rise again. When we accept His sacrifice, we are brought back into fellowship with God.
Romans 3:22-24 explains, “This righteousness is given through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference between Jew and Gentile, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.”
Although Michaels is a self-proclaimed “agnostic,” her values have begun to lean more conservative and faith-based in recent years.
In 2024, when the Olympics depicted a blasphemous scene of The Last Supper, Michaels defended Christianity on X.
“…We demand tolerance and respect but then make a mockery of something sacred for over 2 billion Christians,” she posted. “This type of hypocrisy and lack of understanding is a bad look.”
Let’s pray that Michaels takes her conversation with Harris to heart and accepts Christ as her savior.
