Many Hollywood stars ditched large and glamorous cities for a simpler life, and Kathie Lee Gifford chimed in on why she thinks this keeps happening.

“They’ve had the other, and it’s not fulfilling,” Gifford bluntly told Fox News Digital.

She added, “You get a lot of money, and you notice that by getting a lot of money, they’re able to move someplace where they can have a different kind of lifestyle. They can afford it.”

Gifford is one of the many stars who traded in a lavish lifestyle for rural living.

“I have a little farm in Tennessee as well as my home there, and I live next to big, big, big stars who have like 15,000 acres,” Gifford shared. “I’ve got 10 little acres. I’m so happy there.”

The former TV host shared that her home is a French farm, a special homage to her late parents.

“I want my children and grandchildren and their grandchildren to know about them,” Gifford explained.

Kathie Lee Gifford previously lived in Greenwich, Connecticut, with her late husband Frank Gifford, who died in 2015. In 2020, she shared part of the reason behind her big move to Nashville with PEOPLE.

“This home of mine in Connecticut, where Frank and I raised our beautiful children and we had so many happy years, when I was living there alone. Dogs can only do so much for you, and I love my dogs.”

She added, “But it went from being the most teeming, thrilling, joyful — all the dog sounds, the kid sounds, the smoke in the grill and, you know, it just was life.”

“It came to feel like a mortuary with me just there alone,” she said. “And I said I need to make a new life for myself or this one’s going to kill me.”

While Kathie Lee Gifford moved to get a new start, other stars left the bright lights of Hollywood for their kids’ sake, like Mark Wahlberg who moved his family to Nevada.

“To be able to give my kids a better life and follow and pursue their dreams — whether it be my daughter as an equestrian, my son as a basketball player, my younger son as a golfer — this made a lot more sense for us,” he previously explained.

Singer Gwen Stefani and husband Blake Shelton moved to rural Oklahoma. Stefani explained that she “gets it” now.

“I am not really a dirt person, a bug person, I don’t like that much humidity,” Stefani admitted. “But it’s so beautiful [in Oklahoma], and you kind of feel like you’re going into this vortex. Nature — and God — is all right there.”

The shift in these stars’ lives is encouraging and shows that putting family first and living a simpler life can make all the difference.
