Kirk Cameron reflected on DUCK DYNASTY legend Phil Robertson’s life and faith, sharing clips of conversations he had with the faithful Christian through the years.
“If anyone had seen me up till I was 28, they would have said ‘That guy is of the devil himself. That guy’s up to no good,’” Robertson previously told Cameron as the two shared a meal. “I never had heard the gospel, so when I heard it, [I said], ‘Let me get this right. All of my sins going to be removed and it’s all on God?’ He’s the one that did it. I’m not good enough to earn it. I’ve already proven that.”
“Free of charge, resurrected body from the ground, constant mediating work while we’re here, when we make mistakes not counted against you, the blood continually cleansing us,” he added, reflecting on the Christian life.
In a later clip, Robertson shared the story of the apostle Paul in 1 Timothy 1:13-14, which says, “Even though I was once a blasphemer and a persecutor and a violent man, I was shown mercy because I acted in ignorance and unbelief. The grace of our Lord was poured out on me abundantly, along with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus.”
Robertson explained, “When I read his conversion, when it came to put putting faith in Jesus or not, it helped me because I said, ‘Well I was sorry and low down, but I wasn’t that sorry and low down.’”
“So if you just look at it and you step back and you look, you say, ‘Let’s see, I’m sure of what I hope for, and I’m certain of what I do not see.’ Without faith, it’s impossible to please God because everyone who comes to Him must believe He exists.”
Here Robertson is referencing Hebrews 11:1: “Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.”
Of his relationship with Jesus, the Robertson family patriarch said, “It’s been the greatest ride I’ve ever been on, and I’m still, to this day, I’m still loving it. It’s the greatest move I ever made.”
Robertson died last month at the age of 79 after complications with Alzheimer’s disease.
In a post to Instagram, his son Jase said, “My dad has gone to be with the Lord today! He will be missed but we know he is in good hands, and our family is good because God is very good! We will see him again! #PhilRobertson #Jesus”

People in the comment section celebrated the legacy of Phil Robertson. “Love picturing Phil in glory! What a great man. Thanks for carrying on his legacy,” podcaster Allie Beth Stuckey said. Another person added, “The angels asked, ‘Lord why are you building a duck blind in heaven?’ Lord answered, ‘for a very special son that is coming here today.’”
Robertson’s life is a great reminder of a man who was changed radically by Jesus and followed God with all his heart.
