Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Cooper Kupp was awarded the 2026 Uncommon Award by Hall of Fame football coach Tony Dungy.
“We’re at our 13th annual Uncommon Award dinner and this year we are honoring Cooper Kupp,” Dungy wrote on X. “Cooper is a 2 time Super Bowl champ and an amazing man as well. He’s been a great leader for the Rams & the Seahawks and a true community servant. Cooper has shown that you can be at the top of your profession and also be a great family man who lives out his faith in Jesus. Congratulations, Cooper!”

Dungy presents the award to someone who isn’t “afraid to take the tough road, to follow a higher calling or set a higher standard,” according to Sports Spectrum.
It’s based on the former coach’s life-long desire to live out Matthew 7:13-14, which reads, “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.”
The award was presented to Kupp at the Arise with the Guys conference in Minnesota last weekend, where the athlete shared about his faith in Christ.
“Because of my faith in Jesus, I know that I will never allow what I do to force its way into taking away from what I know my purpose is here,” Kupp said at the conference. “Like, yes, I was made to play the game of football, not to go do great football things, or to win Super Bowls. I was made to play football, to be on a stage, to be able to point to Jesus, to be able to call people to Him, to be able to live a life that reflects Jesus in every way.”
“I know that I would not be here without Him, without the blessings in my life, without the way He’s intricately put the people directly in my life. My wife, who has been such a huge impact on me in my faith and in my journey to becoming a husband, a father – the father I want to be,” the wide receiver continued.
“And you know, it’s because of His divine intervention that brought us together, and I know I’m so small,” Kupp said. “I’ve humbled myself to know that your plan is perfect. You have placed me here, and all I want to do is to serve you, glorify you. And that is where, you know, that’s where my identity lies.”
Whether facing injury or trade, Kupp has persevered through hard times in his NFL career, but ultimately, he knows that God is using him for His glory.
