Len Cariou, who played BLUE BLOODS’ Reagan family patriarch Henry Reagan, enjoyed his time on the spinoff show, BOSTON BLUE.

“It was great to see Donnie and meet the new great-grandchild,” Cariou said, referencing Danny’s son, Sean Reagan, played by newbie Mika Amonsen.

Donnie Whalberg, who plays Danny, teased Cariou’s appearance back in January, PEOPLE reported.

“Grandpa Reagan’s going to be showing up and [Danny’s sister] Erin’s going to show up again,” he said.

Then in February, fans got excited again when Carious slipped into the midseason trailer.

“So, what do we got?” Cariou’s Henry asks in the trailer while looking at Danny.

“Now you know where I got it from,” Danny jokingly tells everyone nearby.

BOSTON BLUE co-creator Brandon Margolis confirmed “there are new characters that will show up. We will meet more members of the Silver family, and we will see members of the Reagan family we have not yet seen. We’re still a fairly new show, and so our world is still growing and expanding as we get deeper into the characters’ lives.”

Executive producer Brandon Sonnier added, “We now have a good handle on the characters we’ve introduced — drawing a full picture of who the Silver family is and how the Reagans have integrated into that family. Now that the groundwork has been laid, the second half of this season is just a full-on exciting exploration of how these relationships grow. How does this family adapt to the environment that’s sort of changing around them as the Reagans have come in?”

He said the last half of the season is the most “exciting” production he’s ever participated in.

Carious’s episode will come out sometimes in April. Then the next BLUE BLOODS family member to crossover will be Erin, played by Bridget Moyhanan, in an upcoming episode.

Margolis also teased that Jamie Reagan, his wife Eddie and their new baby will pop up sometime in the current season, too.

“There is a non-zero percent chance we will see the baby in Season 1 of BOSTON BLUE” Margolis said.

He added, “What I will say is that because the audiences showed up and the network was generous enough to give us a second season, there’s going to be more opportunities for Reagans for a whole other season, and it’s something we want to continue to pursue on the show. Obviously, there were a lot of them, but the invitations are extended, and we are just looking for the right stories to bring them into Danny and Sean’s world. That’s kind of all I can say at the moment without spoiling too much.”

The next episode of BOSTON BLUE comes out Friday, March 13, on CBS.
