LOONEY TUNES to Continue Streaming on Max

Warner Bros.’ LOONEY TUNES will not leave Max after all.
“On Monday, in a 4:02 PM ET email with the subject line ‘What’s New on Max This December,’ Warner Bros. Discovery listed LOONEY TUNES and THE LOONEY TUNES SHOW among the titles leaving Max on December 31st,” the Verge reported.
Max now says that the email was a mistake.
Deadline reported, “LOONEY TUNES was included in error as a title leaving the platform,’ read the statement clarifying the status of the classic shorts. ‘This is not the case and the show will continue streaming on Max.’”
Per Deadline, fans were not happy to hear of the show’s potential departure, especially after seasons 16–31 were cut last year.

Warner Bros. Discovery recently pulled hundreds of episodes of classic LOONEY TUNES shorts as well as several THE FLINTSTONES episodes.
The purge of over 15 seasons of the LOONEY TUNES library came after the end of a licensing agreement between HBO Max and Warner Bros.
According to Variety, the first 15 seasons of LOONEY TUNES will remain on the streaming platform and the removed content will be available to stream elsewhere.
Variety alleges that the “error” is a backtrack on Max’s part after fans went into a frenzy on social media.
Variety also reported, “Many [fans were] infuriated at Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav for seemingly stripping Max of LOONEY TUNES content after his recent decision to scrap the LOONEY TUNES movie COYOTE VS. ACME despite filming being already completed.”
This isn’t the only cartoon-inspired film that Warner Bros. has scrapped recently. The company also threw out BATGIRL and SCOOB! HOLIDAY HAUNT.
Variety notes, “The LOONEY TUNES scare comes at a time of increased awareness over streaming services’ ability to remove content at any time,” with a few film directors advising that fans buy DVDs instead of streaming subscriptions.
