Why More People Than Ever Are Choosing to Be Baptized

Experts around the world are marveling at the worldwide increase in adults choosing to be baptized in the Christian faith.

“On a warm Sunday afternoon in Southern California, a spiritual rebirth is underway,” CBS Sunday Morning’s Lisa Ling said in a recent segment.

Ling spoke to Pastor Mark Francey, who founded the Baptize America organization in 2023. He recently baptized thousands of people at Pirate’s Cover in the ocean.

“Getting in the ocean to do something so transcendent, in a transcendent place like the ocean; it’s just a really special way to connect with God,” he explained.

Francey added, “We want to see America experience the goodness [and] kindness of Jesus, and respond to the great commission in Matthew 28, which is to go into all the world and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them.”

So, what’s behind this spiritual revolution?

Francey pointed to the COVID-19 pandemic, explaining, “There’s something about going through a hard season that wakes people up to what really is important in life.”

He also spoke to The Christian Post about Baptize America’s mission, saying, “What we found is that the pastors that got excited about this, the last two years that participated, made it a big deal, they had big results. The biggest baptisms they’ve ever done. A lot of churches growing by five, 10%.”

Kandi Bailey, care pastor at GrowLife Church of Land O’Lakes, Florida, was baptized at one of the organization’s events.

“We wanted to be a part of a larger vision — people coming together who want to stand up and say, I’m a follower of Jesus. What a beautiful heavenly perspective that must have been to see so many stand up in faith,” she shared. “I believe there is a move of God happening in this generation. God loves this world and wants to be in relationship with us. I hope people see the beauty of standing up and declaring their faith in God and encourage others to do the same.”

This rise in Christianity isn’t just taking place in America. A recent report from the UK’s Bible Society in Great Britain described a “quiet revival” taking place in the country.

“We found that the Church is in a period of rapid growth, driven by young adults and in particular young men,” their report stated. “Along with this, the Church demonstrates greater ethnic diversity than ever before. Both within and outside the Church, young adults are more spiritually engaged than any other living generation, with Bible reading and belief in God on the rise.”

Christians around the world are rejoicing in this time of spiritual revival and revolution!
