Movieguide® Founder and Publisher Dr. Ted Baehr last week presented David Hollis, executive vice president of worldwide distribution for Walt Disney Studios, with the Crystal Teddy Bear Award for Best Family Movie of 2010 for TOY STORY 3.
Dr. Baehr discussed with Mr. Hollis the importance of the faith and the family Christian moviegoing audience and instilling media
literacy in young people. Mr. Hollis said he has two young boys of his own, and he understands the message that Movieguide® promotes quite well. He said that our Report to the Entertainment Industry and service in the Entertainment Industry has been responsible in part for many positive changes such as a recent very successful Disney distributed movie with a positive portrayal of a Christian missionary and solid Christian faith.
Movieguide® has been promoting the production of more family and more faith-based movies and entertainment since 1985.
The victory for TOY STORY 3 was announced Feb. 18 at the 19th Annual Movieguide® Faith & Values Awards Gala and Report to the Entertainment Industry at the Universal Hilton Hotel near the heart of Hollywood.
Since the Gala began, the number of movies with at least some Christian, redemptive content has increased from only 27 in 1991 to 161 in 2010, a six-fold increase!
The 20th Annual Faith & Values Awards Gala and Report to the Entertainment Industry will take place Feb. 10, 2012 at the Universal Hilton.
Year in and year out, the Annual Report to the Entertainment Industry shows that the most family-friendly movies and the movies with the strongest Christian worldviews and content earn the most money by far at the box office and in DVD sales.
