Actress Shae Robins recently took some Instagram followers on a tour of her character’s design room in BLESSINGS IN DISGUISE, letting them in on a little secret.

“My character, Katie, is a fashion designer. And in the film, she has this whole collection…that she designs for the end of the film, inspired by her grandmother,” Robins said in a social media video. “So you’ll notice her grandma had stitched on each dress a Bible verse. And this specific Bible verse plays an important role at the end of the film,” she said, closing in on a strip of fabric with Proverbs 31:25 on it.

It reads: “She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come.”

The movie’s synopsis reads, “Set against the fast-paced world of high fashion and the enduring charm of small-town life, BLESSINGS IN DISGUISE follows Katie (Robins), a driven New York fashion designer with only three weeks to develop a collection that could launch her brand to national prominence. Under mounting pressure and searching for inspiration, Katie returns to her hometown where she chooses an unexpected venue to unveil her work – her late grandmother’s beloved seamstress shop, Charlotte’s Thread.”

As Katie explores her grandmother’s shop, she uncovers something she never knew about her.

She “uncovers the remarkable source behind her grandmother’s handmade designs: carefully selected Scriptures, lovingly stitched by hand and hidden inside every garment,” the synopsis says.

In the process, Katie reconnects with her first love — a furniture designer.

“As their lives intertwine once more, the two discover that inspiration is not found in deadlines or demand — but in the timeless values of home, heritage, and hope,” the synopsis concludes.

Great American Family said of the movie, “These stories highlight how faith is present not only in life’s most difficult moments, but also in the small decisions, relationships, and acts of service that shape who we become.”

Robins was nominated for the Movieguide® Grace Prize this year and received the Epiphany Prize® on behalf of A CHRISTMAS PRAYER’s cast and crew.

“What an honor,” she said upon accepting the award. “I just feel so lucky to have been a part of bringing this beautiful film to life that brought such a beautiful message of prayer and faith, and drawing closer to Christ. A huge thank you to the Movieguide® Awards for having a platform where we can bring entertainment that brings joy and light to a world that so desperately needs it right now.”
