New Movie Chronicles Last Days of Jesus’ Life: ‘Cinematic Experience’

By Movieguide® Contributor

The studio behind GOD’S NOT DEAD and THE CASE FOR CHRIST is releasing a new movie this spring that explores the final days of Jesus’ life.

“In the days leading to betrayal, a gathering of disciples unravels into a web of secrets and hidden motives,” a synopsis of the movie reads. “As tensions simmer beneath the surface, trust is tested, and loyalty is questioned. THE LAST SUPPER becomes a night where nothing is as it seems, and every glance hides a deeper truth.”

Pinnacle Peak Pictures, previously Pure Flix Entertainment, released a trailer earlier this week that shows Jesus riding into Jerusalem during Palm Sunday, before shifting focus to the High Priest Caiaphas, who orchestrated the crucifixion.

“I am so thrilled we are releasing THE LAST SUPPER in theaters this March,” said Michael Scott, the head of Pinnacle Peak Pictures. “This is a beautiful, epic story that really deserves a cinematic experience. As we have seen over the past few years, audiences continue to seek out films in theaters that speak to their faith and biblical accuracy.”

“You get to experience what was happening at the time, the dynamic between Peter and Judas and the betrayal. You get to experience what all these elements represent and the nuance around each of these different things,” Scott continued. “I promise you, you will enjoy it. You will learn something. You will feel the emotion of the story in a way you’ve never seen before.”

The movie stars Jaime Ward as Jesus, along with Robert Knepper (Judas), Henry Garrett (Nicodemus), James Oliver Wheatley (Peter), Charlie MacGechen (John), James Faulkner (Caiaphas) and Nathalie Rapti Gomez (Mary). The movie was filmed in Morocco and directed by Mauro Borrelli.

THE LAST SUPPER will be released in March during the Lenten season to help viewers prepare for their Easter celebrations.
