NFL Drama in the Works at Hulu from CARS, TANGLED Writer
By Movieguide® Contributor
Dan Fogleman, who wrote the screenplays for Movieguide® Teddy Bear Award® nominated movies TANGLED and CARS is set to pen an NFL drama for Hulu.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Hulu picked up the series that comes from Skydance Sports. Not much is available on the project right now, other than it will involve the NFL and a generational family dynamic.
Skydance Sports combines assets from NFL Films and Skydance Sports to create what they are betting can be “the premier global multi-sports production studio.”
Recent talks, though, indicate that the NFL may sell their media division to Paramount Global’s prospective new owners Skydance Media and RedBird Capital, according to Bloomberg.
However, the studio appears to still have multiple projects in development. Along with Fogleman’s NFL drama for Hulu, SUPERMAN’s David Corenswet is set to star in MR. IRRELEVANT about the last pick in the NLF draft.
In addition to his screenplay credits, Fogleman is also known for creating and writing THIS IS US, starring Chrissy Metz, Sterling K. Brown, Mandy Moore, Justin Hartley, and Milo Ventamiglia.
Movieguide® previously commended THIS IS US for its overarching morals:
The beauty of THIS IS US is that every episode is cathartic and achingly real in its depiction of life. The show does not try to sugarcoat reality or diminish the challenges of an interracial, adoptive family experience. However, through all their challenges, the Pearson family falls back time and time again on love for and loyalty to one another.
The marriages in THIS IS US are honest in their depictions of the challenges couples often face, but they remain consistently loving, supportive and strong. Similarly, the parent-child relationships are shown at both the truly heartwarming and the brutally heartrending moments. While the show isn’t Christian in nature and does occasionally introduce distinctly Non-Christian concepts, it’s rather biblical in its view of family and marriage.
