Christian artist Phil Wickham celebrated Lady A’s performance of his version of “Angels (Glory to God)” at this year’s CMA COUNTRY CHRISTMAS event.
“Such a fun surprise to see Lady A sing my version of ‘Angels’ last night on live TV,” Wickham posted on Instagram. “It was so cool.”
Band member Hillary Scott commented on Wickham’s video, writing, “We love you Phil!!!! It’s such an incredible arrangement! Merry Christmas!”
“Angels (Glory to God)” is featured on Wickham’s 2024 Christmas album, Hallelujah! It’s Christmas!
“If you know me, you know I get pumped about Christmas, but that’s not all the title means. It’s also what my heart just wants to sing,” he posted on Instagram. “Hallelujah! God sent His only Son into the mess of the manger to save us. Hallelujah! He still meets us in our mess today. Hallelujah! We are not alone; God is with us.”
Wickham is taking his love of Christmas to the screen this year with a special taping of a live show of his Christmas songs.
“So excited for this night. It’s going to be extra special, and we have some secret guests coming too!” he wrote on Instagram. “Come be a part of this Christmas event and celebrate the birth of our Savior!”
This year’s CMA COUNTRY CHRISTMAS event premiered earlier this month, with performances from BeBe Winans, Jordan Davis, Lauren Daigle, Little Big Town, Megan Moroney, Parker McCollum, Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Riley Green and Susan Tedeschi.
Daigle also co-hosted the event, alongside country artist Jordan Davis.
In an Instagram post about her performance alongside the Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Daigle wrote, “The sound of my favorite city captured by one of my all time favorite bands. I’ll never forget walking in rehearsal that very first time and hearing @preshallband just having fun and cutting up.”
“It was so robust, so full, so emotive and so alive. Hopefully this was the start of getting to play together many more times! So grateful to @preshallband for joining me for @CMA COUNTRY CHRISTMAS,” she concluded.
Fans loved Daigle and the group’s performance, with one person commenting, “Full of joy, love, brilliant music and God’s’ sparkle! ✨ What a teaming! 🙌🏽More of LD with this band!”
Another wrote, “It was the highlight of the program for me. I loved it.”
If you didn’t catch CMA COUNTRY CHRISTMAS live, never fear — the event is available to stream on Hulu and Disney+!
