Christian Artist Wants to Leave Faith-Filled, Family-Focused Legacy

Christian artist Phil Wickham may sing on stages all around the world, but his family is more valuable to him than all of that.

“I would love to live a life where I’m, like, 80 years old next to my 77-year-old wife on the porch in a rocking chair blown away by all that God allowed us to do,” Wickham said, “Still in love, with children that are healthy and grandchildren that are healthy. And that are all pursuing a life of grace and love and mercy, that hopefully, we help lead them into.”

He continued by sharing how he wants to be his very best for his family.

“I’m kind of crying right now because I know how much better I could be at it,” the singer explained. “I just wanna be a person that my family, my kids, they see me on Instagram, and they see me on stage…yeah, that’s cool, but then they see me in our tough time at home or frustrating time, and they see me acting out of love and patience and being the person I’m talking about on stage.”

Wickham wants to leave a legacy of integrity; he wants to be the same person on stage as he is at home.

“There’s a million dreams out there, but when I have to distill it down to, like, what do I really want? I want to practice what I preach. And [I want] the people that are around me to say, yeah he did that…and for my wife to say ‘yeah he’s exactly what he says he is on stage,’” he emphasized.

Family is Wickham’s priority, even taking them along on tour.

“It was family week on tour this week. All six of us Wickhams traveling from city to city taking it in together. I’m so glad the kids got to experience these nights,” he posted on Instagram in August. “Seeing the church gather like this to sing so loudly and full of faith. Watching people give their lives to Jesus. Feeling ownership in what dad does. So so special. And to be side by side with my @mallorywickham…. there isn’t a greater joy for me.”

Wickham shares daughters Penelope, Mabel, Lottie, and son Henry with wife Mallory.

He’s now gearing up for his 2025 Singalong Tour.

“Looking back at old footage from Singalong 2023 makes me so excited to be back in rooms worshiping with the church. There’s nothing like hearing so many voices lift up the name of Jesus!” he posted.

Movieguide® previously reported on a new project Wickham is working on with fellow musician Brandon Lake:

Christian artists Brandon Lake and Phil Wickham have just announced FOR THE ONE, an upcoming documentary following the pair on tour.

“Over the past year we’ve been capturing the stories on God’s heart through documenting our own journeys, and the @summerworshipnights Tour,” Lake wrote on Instagram. “Music, vision, worship, and community, FOR THE ONE weaves the songs and the passion of myself and my hero, @philwickham into this tour documentary.”

A synopsis of FOR THE ONE calls it “a groundbreaking film that journeys through the stories that gave flight to the Summer Worship Nights tour.”

“A triumph of music, vision, worship, and community, FOR THE ONE weaves the songs and the passion of Brandon Lake and Phil Wickham into an unforgettable tour documentary,” the description continues.
