Steelers QB Keeps His Priorities Straight: ‘Jesus’ and ‘Family Time’

By Movieguide® Contributor

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Russell Wilson knows there’s more to life than football. His top priorities? Faith and family.

A new post on his social media account showed Wilson with his wife, Ciara, and their four children: Future, Sienna, Win and Amora.

“Jesus. I thank YOU. YOUR reckless Love is amazing! Family Time,” he captioned the post.

On Oct. 24, the quarterback also shared a photo of him running out of the tunnel into Acrisure Stadium, marking his return to the field after a calf injury sidelined him for the first half of the season.

In light of his return, he shared 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18, which reads:

Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

This is Wilson’s first season with the Pittsburgh Steelers. In April, he sat down with Essence and talked about his gratitude for all his opportunities in the NFL.

“To play 13 years in the NFL has been a dream come true,” he said. “To be able to play for Mike Tomlin; to stand side by side with him and try to accomplish all the goals that I want to accomplish with the Steelers organization, and what that represents for the NFL, is one of the greatest gifts in the world.”

However, Wilson’s goal is to make more of an impact off the field than on it, a trait he inherited from his parents.

“My mom and my dad, I got to see them both give back in many ways,” he remembered. “My dad was a lawyer. He helped so many people. My mom was a nurse, and she had the heart of servitude, like in John 13:14 — where Jesus says, ‘If I, your Lord and teacher, wash your feet, you ought to wash others.’ And I just firmly believe that it’s God’s gift — ‘To whom much is given, much is required’ — for us to be able to give back and serve.”
