Philadelphia Eagles star running back Saquon Barkley received the best voicemail before Super Bowl LIX.

“Hi Daddy, it’s Jada. I’m so excited for your big game!” his 6-year-old daughter said. “Yeah! I really, really, really hope you win, and Daddy, I’m really thankful that you’ve been caring for your whole family, and I know you’re going to win. But if you don’t, that is OK! I’ll always, always love you, and SJ will always love you, and mommy would always love you, and your mother and father would always love you. Our whole family would always love you no matter what you do. I love you so much, Daddy. Thank you for taking care of me and SJ and Mommy. Big blessings. I love you, Daddy! Bye!”

Barkley always puts his family first and strives to set an example for his two children, Jada and Saquon Jr., 2, who he shares with fiancée Anna Congdon. That’s why he decided to go back to school and get his degree.

The athlete left Penn State in 2018 when he was drafted into the NFL but later returned, completing his degree in 2022.

“It feels amazing,” Barkley told the NY Giants media team. “It’s something that my mom and dad always wanted me to do and accomplish. When I left Penn State, one of the things coach (James) Franklin told me is if I wanted to leave early, I had to come back and get my degree. I only had a couple of classes left. I thought it would be good to go back and get my degree. Obviously, I had a lot of ups and downs with injuries and stuff, so I had more free time to get some stuff done – sadly.”

“Everyone pushed me,” he added. “My parents (Alibay Barkley and Tonya Johnson) pushed me to accomplish it, Anna (Congdon, his now fiancee) pushed me to accomplish it, coach Franklin, obviously, and coach (Charles) Huff, my running back coach at the time, and I was happy to get it done.”

But more than just getting it done, he had his kids in mind.

“I also thought it would be good to get my degree to set an example for my siblings and my family,” he explained, per PEOPLE. “I want my kids to be goal setters and whatever they want to accomplish, they can do it if they put their mind to it. I would love for them to one day say, ‘I want to accomplish this and actually see it come to fruition.'”
