SPY KIDS Star Shares Why It’s Important to ‘Plant’ the Gospel ‘Seed’

Actress Alexa PenaVega is answering how to handle sharing the Gospel with those who don’t want to hear it.
“Something that really helped me was when I would share and it just didn’t feel like it was effective — I realized, it’s not up to me to see the fruit of the things that I’m saying. It’s just up to me to plant the seed,” PenaVega shared on her Instagram Story this week. “God does the rest. Sometimes it takes years, sometimes it takes months.”
“And sometimes we may never see that fruit. But yeah, it’s not up to us to see the fruit, and that helped me realize that it took away a lot of the stressors of like wanting to see people transformed,” the SPY KIDS star explained. “I mean…that’d be amazing, right? If we all just like agree and people believe what I believe? But at the end of the day, the best testimony that I think of people and the best view of what we believe is literally just being consistent in our walk and showing them what faith looks like in our lives.”
She believes when people see the “peace” of Jesus Christ living in believers, it’s louder than words.
Movieguide® reported Alexa and her husband Carlos’ take on a sermon they heard earlier this month:
“Our biggest takeaway from church this weekend is how important it is to cast vision for your family or anything else you’re doing— and be aligned with your identity, values and beliefs,” the pair wrote on Instagram. “Making decisions will be so much easier. [We] believe that without that alignment…it simply won’t work. Money can only keep the train running for so long. ‘Without vision people perish.’”
“Some extra notes worthy of sharing! ‘Am I in the process or am I in the promise?’ Sometimes we live thinking the process is for us. Not ever making it into what God has promised us,” they continued. “Don’t live at the border of the promise.”
Currently, Alexa and Carlos are halfway through a holiday movie for Great American Family, called GET HIM BACK FOR CHRISTMAS. The previous working title was called LOVE AT THE KETTLE.
The synopsis reads, “Up-and-coming singer songwriter Bella Harlan (Alexa PenaVega) comes home for Christmas and enlists her high-school songwriting partner Jack Grayton (Carlos PenaVega) to craft a song to win back her rockstar boyfriend by Christmas. As the two reunite for the first time in a decade, they embark on a Christmas journey down memory lane, and soon realize true love may be closer than they thought.”
The couple just performed in another GAF movie, called MR. MANHATTAN, which Movieguide gave a +1 review.
“I think we’re close to 10 projects,” Carlos said about how many projects he and Alexa have done together. “We love working together. If it’s possible, we absolutely want to do it, especially these types of movies. They are so fun.
Alexa said, “What I love about it is we both know what we’re capable of. It is great because if we want to maybe go off script a little bit and bring something else to the scene, I know that he’ll go there with me. We just have such a great relationship and chemistry that we can go back and forth. And that’s not always the case when you’re on a project. So it’s very special to be able to work together.”
