To celebrate Mother’s Day, Olympic gold medalist Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone shared with her Instagram followers that she and husband, Andre, are expecting a girl!
“In honor of Mother’s Day here’s a look back on us finding out that Baby Levrone is in fact a….GIRL,” she posted on Instagram. “We love you baby girl! Happy Mother’s Day to all the mamas out there! 🙏🏽 so grateful.”
She accompanied the announcement with a sweet video of her and Andre sitting on a beach, digging into a cake that was pink inside.

In January, McLaughlin-Levrone announced that they were expecting their first child.
“Made a human with my favorite human,” the track star wrote on Instagram, which included photos of the couple alongside pictures of a sonogram of the baby.
“Oh, how we have prayed for you…and the Lord has answered!! You are our greatest blessing and are already so loved. We are eagerly waiting to meet you! 🫶🏽🤍 Cool parents loading…” she added.
A few months later, McLaughlin-Levrone shared Andre’s sweet reaction to finding out she was pregnant.
“Telling my husband I’m pregnant fresh off a flight at 6am,” she captioned the video.
In the video, Andre walks into a hotel room where his wife had set up a stuffed animal, baby shoes and the positive pregnancy test. Andre was a bit confused at first, but soon everything clicked, and he was overcome with joy. He picked up his wife and spun her around in a circle, both with a smile on their face.
“Sydney…what do you mean?!” he said in the video. “Did you know for awhile?…You’ve been peeing on sticks and you wasn’t telling me?”
“I kept it a secret for a WHOLE WEEK,” McLaughlin-Levrone wrote over the video.
While on the “Bodega Track” podcast, McLaughlin-Levrone talked about what it means for her and Andre to be parents.
“I mean, it’s something we had talked about for years and desired. Obviously, trying to figure out schedules and career and all those things,” the track and field star said. “It’s something we were super excited to be able to pursue. I found out — I knew for like a week before he found out. Afterward, he was like, ‘You knew for a week?’”
“I was like every day I just wanted to blurt it out, but I wanted to do something special,” she added. “So I surprised him one day when he had flown into New York to meet me, and he was literally just stuck. It was the sweetest reaction ever.”
Sydney and Andre are certain to raise their baby daughter in the way she should go.
