Tampa Bay WR Encouraged By ‘Prayers’ After Season-Ending Injury

By Movieguide® Contributor

Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Chris Godwin just suffered another season-ending injury, but he has high hopes for himself in the future.

“Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles said postgame that the ‘early indication’ is wide receiver Chris Godwin suffered an ankle dislocation in the team’s 41-31 loss to the Baltimore Ravens,” the NFL reported.

After the injury, Godwin shared his thoughts on Instagram.

“It’s tough to put into words the range of emotions over the last few days,” he wrote. “I’m disappointed that I can’t be out there with my brothers going to battle. I’m saddened that my wife and family had to endure watching another gruesome injury. And I’m frustrated that a strong start to the season was cut short.”

“However, my appreciation for life and the blessings that I’m so fortunate to have will never waver. I am still and will always be extremely grateful to get to do what I love for a living. I’m also encouraged by the outpouring of prayers/love/support from so many people. Thank you VERY much to everyone that took the time to donate to our foundation! Because of this support we will continue to be able to do amazing things in our communities,” he added.

“We don’t always get to know ‘why,’ but that rarely matters anyway,” the wide receiver continued. “Adversity reveals our true character and I look forward to the opportunity to display mine throughout this process. Just another storm, but trust that sunshine is on the other side. Be back soon! Back to Work! Much love. #1Fo #TheRise#BrickByBrick

Godwin underwent surgery last week and is expected to miss the remainder of the season. He may return if Tampa can make the playoffs.

In the meantime, he’s sure to further the mission of his Team Goodwin Foundation.

“The mission of the Team Godwin Foundation is Providing At-Risk Animals a Second Chance Through Advocacy & Financial Support. Founded by Tampa Bay Buccaneers Receiver Chris Godwin and his wife, Mariah, Team Godwin wants to help our community’s pets in need,” the foundation’s website reads.

Team Goodwin recently hosted a gala to raise support for the organization.

“We cannot put into words how incredibly grateful we are to be part of such an amazing community,” the foundation posted on Instagram. “Because of you we are able to help our Most Vulnerable Pets and give at-risk animals a second chance at love, life and a forever family.”
