Tasha Layton’s new song, “Meet Me in The Valley,” is a prayer for anyone who’s felt down.

“’Meet Me In The Valley’ is a prayer for anyone who feels like they’re navigating the low places right now,” Layton shared on Instagram on Jan. 7. “You are not forgotten. You are not alone. God meets you right where you are.”

Layton released the song on Oct. 10 as part of her album, Life in Me. Some of the lyrics are:

Meet me in the valley
I need you Lord
Be my shield
In the middle of the war

Tell me that I’ll make it

Layton took inspiration for the song from the book of Psalms.

“Right where you are, call on God’s name, He hears you! 🤍” she shared on Instagram. “‘The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth. He fulfills the desires of those who fear him; he hears their cry and saves them.’ Psalm 145:18–19”

In another post, she wrote, “’Meet Me In The Valley’ is a prayer for the moments we feel stuck in the low places. Even there — especially there — God comes close. If you’re walking through a difficult season, may this song remind you that He meets us right where we are with comfort, strength, and peace. 🤍✨”

Every song on Life in Me is personal to the AMERICAN IDOL alum.

“Each track really represents a season from my walk with Jesus. The album is a beautiful picture of His life in me,” Layton shared ahead of its release. “These songs tell the story of God’s faithfulness through every season, and I can’t wait for you to experience them.”

The songs speak of hope after heartbreak and joy that’s within reach.

“A lot of the songs draw from my own pain,” she told Crossmap. “And so, I think as an artist and a creative person, I often draw from my own pain. But I don’t want to stay there either. When I wrote this record, I wanted people to feel like they could understand devastation in another human’s life and identify with that.”

“But I also wanted them to identify with the freedom and the joy that I feel now,” she continued. “…There are a lot of songs on this record that mean a lot to me, and so I don’t feel like any of them are throwaways. I feel like they’re all pretty special.”

May “Meet Me in the Valley” and Layton’s other Life in Me tracks encourage you today.
