CHRISTMAS WITH THE CHOSEN: HOLY NIGHT combines previous holiday specials into the ultimate nativity movie.
“Over six years ago I made a little short film on my friend’s farm in Illinois,” THE CHOSEN’s creator Dallas Jenkins said. “Entitled THE SHEPHERD, it was about the birth of Christ from the perspective of the shepherds, and it was only intended for my church’s Christmas Eve service. It ultimately ended up launching THE CHOSEN.”
“A few years later, with many more resources, we did THE MESSENGERS, a special episode about the birth of Christ from the perspective of Mary and Joseph,” he continued.
2021’s THE MESSENGERS—THE CHOSEN’s first box office release—set new records, becoming “the bestselling Fathom Event release of all time. The special event earned $8 million on opening night.”
This year, Jenkins wanted to explore another approach to the Nativity.
“I had an interesting idea…what it we combine the two? I didn’t think it would work great, but it might be an interesting experiment,” he explained.
“It does work, and the Nativity story took on even more relevance,” Jenkins added. “I can’t wait for you to see it in theaters and ultimately start a new Christmas tradition.”
Along with THE SHEPHERD and THE MESSENGERS, HOLY NIGHT includes special musical performances from the Bonner Family, Zach Williams, Matt Maher, Brandon Lake, One Voice Children’s Choir and Joy to the World. It culminates in a performance from Andrea Bocelli and his son, Matteo.
HOLY NIGHT’s limited theatrical run hits select theaters Dec. 12-17.
