It will be three times the laughs for Nate Bargatze’s debut comedy THE BREADWINNER, with SNL star Colin Jost, SNL alum Will Forte and THE BIG SICK star Kumail Nanjiani joining the cast.

In the movie, Bargatze plays a family man whose role is reversed when wife, played by THIS IS US star Mandy Moore, becomes the breadwinner after she lands a deal on SHARK TANK and Nate becomes the stay-at- home dad.

The upcoming flick will be “in the vein of MR. MOM and HOME ALONE,” the funnyman told Relevant magazine.

The Tennessee native not only stars in but co-wrote and co-produced the Eric Appel-directed movie (WEIRD: THE AL YANKOVIC STORY) along with Dan Lagana (AMERICAN VANDAL.)

This will be the stand-up comic’s first venture onto the big screen. While Bargatze admits he doesn’t “know the first thing about making a movie,” he’s “excited to figure it all out.”

“It’s going to be a whole new world, and I can’t wait to learn,” he added.

Does this mean that the clean comedian is leaving standup comedy? Yes, and it might be sooner than we think, which might come as a surprise as he had the highest grossing comedy tour of 2024.

“I don’t want to overstay my welcome. I also want to get out of the way. I need to let the next wave of comedians come up,” he told The New York Times. “I got this tour and then maybe one more.”

But never say never.

“We’re doing this interview in 10 years, and I’m like: You know what? I got back into it. I’m only doing stand-up,” he joked.

Along with stepping out onto the big screen the 46-year-old hosted SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE twice and is slated to host the Emmys this fall.

His first book, Big Dumb Eyes: Stories From A Simpler Mind, where he shares personal stories in his usual self-deprecating humor, became a New York Times #1 Bestseller.

“[I’m] officially an author,” he said putting “author” in air quotes at a book signing.

“The audio book is out. I read the audio book. It’s the last book I read was this book, the only book to be honest. So, yeah, you can go check all that out. Thank you very much,” Bargatze continued in his famous deadpan delivery.

Whether the comedian decides to retire from stand up or not, Bargatze shows no sign of slowing down.
