Sadie Robertson Huff recently hosted Christian influencers Parker Brown and MillerAnne Mayernick Brown on her podcast — and the couple had some great advice to share.
MillerAnne said the best piece of advice she ever got was from her older sister, Gracie Mayernick.
“I would say don’t take criticism from people you wouldn’t take advice from. That’s something that I have clung to in so many different seasons. Grace actually told me that advice when I was in middle school,” she told Huff.
“I remember being like, ‘Oh my word.’ It just shifted my perspective on everything because, like, you know, in high school when I was trying to walk intentionally with Jesus, you know, people would say things. It’s like…reframing ‘Oh, would I would I ask for advice?’”

It helped her to brush off comments that she may have given too much weight to otherwise.
She continued, “And then now, like, we’ll post something on social media that’s on our hearts that the Lord has put there and might be bold or whatever, and then people criticize. It’s like, oh, I’m probably not going to sit down and take their advice, so why would I even let that affect me? Like it I’ve kind of just watched that advice hit me in a new way in different seasons.”
Parker chimed in that people will rarely remember what has been said to them but will always remember how someone made them feel.
“I don’t know. I just feel like whether it’s in conversation or whatever it might be, looking someone in the eyes, asking intentional questions, just making them feel welcomed, you know, and loved,” he said. “I feel like that’s helped me a lot just in all the different places I’ve been in.”
Huff said, “That’s so good. I love that. And it’s so true. So many times we overthink like, what would I say and people just want you to be there and just be a friend.”
Huff always asks her podcast guest for the best piece of advice they’ve ever gotten. Her mom, Korie Robertson, is someone she often looks to for advice, as she tries to be a good mom to her three young daughters.
“My mom has become like, a mentor to me through this process of like…all the different things,” Huff said previously. “She has helped me so much to navigate it.”
Huff also takes advice from her other wise family members. A favorite quote from her great-grandmother is “You are not kind because other people are kind to you — you are kind because YOU are a kind person.”
Huff’s family reality TV show, DUCK DYNASTY: THE REVIVAL, just released its second season on March 7. It’s available to stream on Hulu + Live TV, Philo and Frndly TV.
