- Content: Country Star Shares Sweet Throwback Pic From High School With Wife

Country star Thomas Rhett just shared a hilarious throwback from his and wife Lauren Akins’ high school days!
“2 bags of flour turned into 4 real ones real fast…” he wrote under two photos — one from high school, showing the couple taking care of flour sack “babies,” and another of their family today.
Rhett joked, “#whatcouldgoright.”
Rhett and Akins met in elementary school, but it wasn’t until sixth grade that feelings began growing.
“Even though the feeling was not reciprocated in the sixth grade, I already knew I was in love with her. I know that sounds unbelievable, but it’s true,” Rhett told British GQ.
The pair started dating when they were 15 but broke up after a few months. They remained friends, though, and at Akins’ sister’s graduation party, Rhett gave it one more try.
“I’d loved that girl since high school, and I told her father how I felt,” the country star told PEOPLE. “He said, ‘If you don’t tell her, I’m going to.’ It was a total Ryan Gosling moment. I said to her, ‘I just want to kiss you one time. If you don’t feel anything, we can go back to being friends.’”
Akins wrote about the moment in her 2020 book, Live in Love: Growing Through Life’s Changes — “That one moment, that one kiss on my parents’ front porch, changed everything.”
Rhett proposed six months later, and the rest is history!
Today, the couple share four daughters — Willa Gray, 8, Ada James, 6, Lennon Love, 4, and Lillie Carolina, 2. Rhett often talks about how much he enjoys being a girl dad

Rhett and Akins have also been candid about the ups and downs of their marriage, revealing that prayer got them through some of their hardest times.
