TobyMac Honored for Major Career Milestones: ‘Grateful’

By Movieguide® Contributor

On Monday, June 11, TobyMac was surprised by Capitol Christian Music Group (CCMG) and Pandora with multiple plaques for his incredible music career.

Per Music Row, “Hosted by CCMG in their new Nashville office, the label took the opportunity to celebrate the success of his ‘Life After Death’ album, honoring its five No. 1 radio singles, and presented him with plaques celebrating his Gold-certified song ‘Help Is On The Way (Maybe Midnight)’ as well as Platinum-certified tunes ‘Speak Life’ and ‘City On Our Knees.'”

Movieguide® previously reported on “Life After Death”:

TobyMac wrote the album in response to the sudden death of his son, Truett McKeehan, in 2019, noting that for this album, he “needed a little help from my friends to make it through it.”

“I’ve always dreamed of doing a collaborative record – a record of collaborations,” TobyMac told Christian Headlines in a recent interview. “And I thought this would be a better time than any because I feel like maybe I needed a little help from my friends to make it through it. After what I’ve experienced and losing my firstborn, I just think people came alongside me and helped me – helped me maybe sing some of the things that were hard for me to sing, and maybe made me a little stronger. So I’m grateful.”

Brad O’Donnell, CCMG Co-President, said, “We are thrilled to honor TobyMac and his unprecedented success. From being awarded Pandora’s Billionaires Plaque to numerous awards for his catalog and current album ‘Life After Death,’ there is so much to celebrate. We are extremely grateful to be involved with such a special artist like Toby.”

“I am just so grateful,” TobyMac expressed afterward. “I look out at all of you and see a team — some people I’ve worked with for decades, some for months, but a team that has championed my songs and helped me spread how deep and wide God’s never-ending love is, and for that I am so thankful. I love experiencing God breathing life into a song, allowing people to make that song their own and experience God’s faithfulness in their own lives — it’s why I will keep doing it ’til someone tells me I can’t anymore.”

He also shared his gratitude for the honor on Instagram.

“Thanks @siriusxmthemessage for presenting me with this Billionaire plaque honoring over a billion streams on @pandora And so thankful for all of you guys streaming my music over the years, I’m so honored and grateful that these songs are resonating!!”

He concluded his caption with “TGBTG,” which stands for “To God be the glory.”
