Music producer and artist Tommee Profitt will bring a whole new spin to beloved Christian hymns, just in time for Easter.

“I’ve known for a long time that I wanted to make an Easter-equivalent to THE BIRTH OF A KING…but I didn’t know what the songs would be,” Profitt, whose known for his cinematic sound, wrote about his upcoming album The Resurrection Of A King on Facebook.

“There aren’t exactly ‘Easter carols’ like Christmas has. And then it dawned on me…duh. The essence of the Christmas album was taking something old and making it feel new, and fresh, and cinematic,” he continued. “And in order for THE RESURRECTION OF A KING to feel like a true sequel (which it does!), it needed to be the same — songs with old heritage (about the cross, and the blood) made to feel new and fresh. And of course cinematic. So that’s what this album is…a new soundtrack to the Easter story.”

The set list includes “wildly reimagined” hymns like “Old Rugged Cross,” “Blessed Assurance,” “Christ the Lord Is Risen Today” and “How Great Thou Art,” among others. Profitt said they’re “Familiar when they should be and spun on their head when they needed to be.”

He hopes The Resurrection Of A King breathes “new life into these timeless classics,” adding, “The process was so powerful and emotional — I couldn’t explain it if I tried.”

Profitt explained the creative process that when into each track and how he selected specific artists to collaborate with.

“I started with the list of songs first. And as the arrangements came together, a very specific voice/name came to mind that would be PERFECT to deliver each one. These incredible artists ALL, one by one, came and gave the performance of a lifetime,” he said. “Each arrangement was specifically leaned in and tailored to their individual voice, range, tone, and strength. I am SO honored that they said yes, and so thankful for this project and the collaborative effort to fulfill this vision. I truly felt commissioned to make this album. Like it was a life purpose.”

He released “He Arose,” a powerful take on “Up From The Grave He Arose,” featuring Phil Wickham, just last week.

The original hymn was written in 1874 by preacher Robert Lowry, but fans loved his new version.

“This project carries a clarity and conviction that really stands out. Your dedication to creating meaningful work is evident in every detail👏” one fan said on Instagram. Another person added, “I don’t get this excited very often but OH. MY. WORD!!!!! My favorite producer with my favorite artist/worship leader!! 🤯🙌”

Other collaborators include Ben Fuller, CeCe Winans, Crowder, Jamie MacDonald and Jordan Smith.

The entire album arrives on March 27,2026.
