Rising Christian music star Josiah Queen shared how his father’s integrity both inside and outside of the home taught him what it means to devote one’s life to their Lord.
“I think the biggest thing is just how he acted, like how he treated us at home,” Queen told “The George Janko Show” of his dad who’s a pastor. “He was the same person he was at church, like, the same person. That’s huge. And I think that’s the thing that messes so many people up when they see their parents, their pastors acting a certain way at church and coming home and being a completely different person. And my dad is the same person whether he’s at home or at church.”

As Queen’s success grows, he has looked to emulate his life upon his father’s actions and remain rooted even as millions of people know his name. This is especially difficult given he is only in his early twenties, but the singer constantly prays that the Lord will keep him humble and help him remember he is the Lord’s servant first and foremost.
“I never want my relationship to Jesus to be transactional. Like, hey, let me call God. I’m going to come to you and read this so that I can write a song about this so that people will click on it on social media. Because, that’s not how relationships work…” “The Prodigal” singer told Jonathan Pokluda earlier this year. “And so, you know, it’s like realizing that that’s honestly the hardest thing for me because it’s like, I write songs about the Bible. So, it’s like reading my Bible and going to the Lord, that being my relationship and then everything else coming second.”
Meanwhile, Queen understands just how important relying on the Lord is both for his career and his faith. When he first began to create music, he tried to create catchy songs for the radio. However, he did not find success until he gave his career to God and began making songs that honored Him and did not worry about how many people they would reach.
“I was writing songs that I thought would work for the radio — what I thought labels wanted,” Queen told Relevant. “And they weren’t really clicking. So finally I said, ‘Forget it. I’m just gonna make something I like.’ That’s where it started.”
“This was always the dream,” he added. “I used to pray that I’d just write worship music for a living. That’s all I ever wanted.”
Praise the Lord for the example Queen had growing up. May he continue to stay rooted in his faith and focus on living a life that honors God in all areas.
