What This Christian Music Star Hopes People Learn from Her Story

Singer Rebecca St. James and her husband Cubbie Fink want to help people see the goodness of God through their new book Lasting Ever.

“We just felt a sense of, like, mission and timeliness around it. A lot of people are deconstructing their faith or, like, you know, really questioning ‘Does this faith thing work for me?’” St. James said on Olympian Shawn Johnson and husband Andrew East’s podcast. “Or they’re discouraged because people have let them down, maybe Christians, you know? We hope that the book, that people kind of close the book and go ‘God is good, and I’ve seen that in their story.’”

In the book, St. James and Fink dive into their own story to “illuminate the heartaches and triumphs that have shaped their story as a married couple, as parents, as musicians, and — most of all — as Jesus followers.”

“Through honest conversations about singlehood, marriage, the purity movement, and living in the spotlight, Lasting Ever offers hope to all of us who face challenges but long to embrace life with a heart attuned to God’s grace,” the synopsis reads.

St. James wants readers to know that amid this world’s hardships, God can still bring hope and redemption.

“We are promised in the Bible that in this world you will have trouble. We know that that’s a given, like, we know that it’s going to be challenging,” she said. “There’s going to be a pain, but then to kind of go, ‘God is faithful and He will restore and He will redeem those challenging moments.’ So how do we live out a ‘lasting ever’ or ‘everlasting’…love?”

St. James says the answer is “being found by God’s true love and then having that play out in the way we do relationships.”

Lasting Ever releases on Feb. 4.

“I can’t even put into words how excited I am about this new season of ministry alongside my hubby!” she wrote on Instagram. “Please pray for the hand of God to be on the book as it goes out into the world. We’re praying that lives will be touched, changed and encouraged!”
