Why Candace Cameron Bure Loves the Movieguide® Awards
By Movieguide® Contributor
Candace Cameron Bure explained why she loves the Movieguide® Awards and how she picks the movies that she becomes involved in as an actor or a producer.
“I love this award show. It’s always so much fun,” Bure told Movieguide® while on the Gala’s red carpet. “I love the people that are here. I love to see the performances. And it’s just so great to represent family movies and television, that’s the best part about this whole show.”
Bure is up for two awards this year. She starred in the For King + Country biopic UNSUNG HERO as well as A CHRISTMAS LESS TRAVELED. UNSUNG HERO is nominated for the Epiphany Prize for movies, while A CHRISTMAS LESS TRAVELED is nominated for the same award in the TV category.
“As a producer, I’m always looking for scripts that grab me as a viewer, that take me on a journey, that make me feel something from them and maybe even learn something,” Bure explained. “So two of the movies that we have nominated tonight are beautiful stories. UNSUNG HERO, which is based on a true story; I’m so proud of this film. And a great Christmas movie, A CHRISTMAS LESS TRAVELED. And, you know, finding Christmas scripts are always, like, unique. I look for very specific things in those. So, hopefully you pick the right on and you make a great movie and people love it.”
“As a woman of faith, I want see stories that are brought to life that are meaningful and faith forward,” Bure continued. “I think more and more they have been not only embraced but wanted and desired by viewers and as a place like the Movieguide® Awards to celebrate movies of faith is just incredible.”
Hosted by Mario Lopez, the 32nd Movieguide® Award Gala will air on the Great American Family Network on March 26, before being available to stream on Pure Flix starting the following day.
