Will LA Rams QB Matt Stafford Retire After This Season?
By Movieguide® Contributor
Is Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matt Stafford thinking about retiring? After the Rams lost to the Eagles last weekend, the quarterback’s wife, Kelly Stafford, is curious if “this is the end” for her husband.
“Aren’t enough words to express how proud I am,” Kelly wrote on Instagram along with photos of the couple’s family at the game. “I joke about us being old and tired but honestly I could never get tired of watching you out there or watching our girls cheer for their daddy. I’m wondering if this is the end or not…guess we will find out.”
The Staffords are parents to twin daughters Sawyer and Chandler, 7, Harper, 6, and Tyler, 4.
After the game, Stafford told ESPN that he would “take some time to think about” retirement. “But I feel like I was playing some pretty good ball,” he added.
Before Stafford’s trade to the Rams, he was the quarterback for the Detroit Lions. As a way to give back to that community, he and Kelly began their Kelly and Matthew Stafford & Friends Education Center as part of SAY Detroit, a group that helps Detroiters in need.
In April of last year, the Staffords traveled back to Detroit to dedicate the new building which will allow “the after-school center to add additional academic and enrichment programming to improve educational outcomes for hundreds of Detroit youth (ages 8-18).”
“This whole day, this whole event, this whole place is about growth,” SAY Detroit founder Mitch Albom said. “Growth of an organization…Growth of a really talented number one draft pick…Growth of a hole in the ground that…has lifted from the dirt into this beautiful building that you’re here now sitting in. And most importantly, the growth of every child that comes through the door here…And if you believe in the future, then you have to believe in growth. And that’s what we’re here to do.’’
