BILL & TED’S BOGUS ADVENTURE

What You Need To Know:

In BILL & TED'S BOGUS ADVENTURE, two dim-witted guitar players embark on an occult odyssey to save the world from their robotic replicas. The year is 2691 A.D., and Bill & Ted have established a university. A villain plots to send two robotic replicas of Bill and Ted back in time to rid the world of them. Back in the 90's, Bill and Ted mistake their evil twins for their future selves and end up being murdered. They come face-to-face with the grim reaper and knock him unconscious. They overhear the twins plotting to murder their girlfriends. They alert the police by possessing the bodies of two cops and then crash a seance. A satanic chant sends the two into a "bad karma" hell. Their only option is to beat the reaper at a game. After a few games, the reaper takes them to heaven to petition God. Bill and Ted ask "God" to help them save the world from their oppressors.

Describing their travels as "bogus" is accurate. BILL & TED'S BOGUS ADVENTURE counterfeits heaven and hell with occultism and foolishness. Someday, these misfits will come face-to-face with the Creator they mocked in their movie. God will not accept their absurd answers to the meaning of life. Instead, He will only consider whether or not they accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior before they died.

Content:

(L, V, S, NA, O, Ab) Five obscenities; enemy interrogation, murder; implied rape, gazing upon woman's breasts & transvestism (female turns out to be male); use of crystals, channeling & hell depicted as bad karma (past experiences haunting you after death); out-of-body experiences, appearance of grim reaper, demon possession, calling upon dead in seance, graphic depictions of demons and hell, repeated use of hand signal for devil worship (index and ring finger curled under, other fingers pointing up), & chanting occultic spell from BOOK OF EVIL; unbiblical depictions of God and heaven (heaven's "most intelligent beings" are two fat, hairy chimpanzee creatures with huge rear cheeks).

More Detail:

Embarking on a spiritually bogus time-travel odyssey to heaven and hell, Bill and Ted are amiably dim-witted guitar players trying to save the world from their wicked, robotic replicas.

Picking up where their previous adventure left off, the year is now 2691 A.D., and Bill & Ted have established a university named after them. Their `excellence’ is disrupted when a villain invades their classroom revealing his plot to go back in time to rid the world of Bill and Ted. To accomplish this mission, the villain introduces two wicked, robotic replicas of Bill and Ted who blast off in their time-traveling phone booth.

Back in the 90’s, Bill and Ted audition for the “Battle of the Bands.” Playing with them are their medieval girlfriends, two maidens rescued in their earlier adventure. Bill and Ted’s “Wild Stallyns” band makes the play-offs. Hoping to win a nationally-syndicated TV appearance, the guys vow to improve their guitar-playing.

Unfortunately, Bill and Ted mistake their evil twins for their future selves and end up being murdered in the desert. Once dead, they come face-to-face with the grim reaper, a shrouded ghoul who speaks with a German accent.

Bill and Ted knock him unconscious and head back to town. They return to their apartment and overhear the twins plotting to murder their girlfriends at the Battle of the Bands.

Bill and Ted alert the police about the twins’ plans by possessing the bodies of two cops. The twosome also try to warn their girlfriends. Hoping to find them at Missy’s house (Ted’s mom), the guys crash a group of people channeling the dead in a seance.

Putting the room in a whirlwind, Bill and Ted frighten Missy, who opens a BOOK OF EVIL and leads the group in a satanic chant. The chant spellbinds the twosome into a “bad karma” hell where they re-live their worst earthly experiences such as a tooth-rotting grandma demanding a smothering kiss.

Ultimately, Bill and Ted meet up with the reaper, who tells them “you must chose your hell.” Their only other option is to beat the reaper at a game, granting them a second chance at life. After a few games (Battleship, Clue, Mini-football, and Twister), the reaper takes them to heaven to petition God.

Walking into heaven’s massive, cloud-filled foyer, the guys are checked by two attendants before entering. They feel inappropriately dressed in their earthly attire. To compensate, they mug three people and don their wardrobe.

Going before the gatekeeper, the threesome are asked, “what is the meaning of life?” Not really having an answer, they utter illogical fragments, such as “a rose contains many thorns.”

Even so, Bill, Ted and the reaper enter heaven, where they ask “God” to help them save the world from their oppressors. When “God” gives them a special instrument to help them accomplish their task, Ted says, “Thank you, Sir! You are a just and righteous Creator.”

Realistically, our sovereign God is bigger than BILL & TED’S BOGUS ADVENTURE. Describing their time travels as “bogus” (or, “counterfeit”) is accurate in every sense of the word. Spiritual counterfeits can be traced back to the Old Testament (Exodus 4-13). In the same way, BILL & TED’S BOGUS ADVENTURE counterfeits heaven and hell with occultism and foolishness.

Someday, these misfits will come face-to-face with the Creator they mocked in their movie. Ted is correct when he says that God is just and righteous. For this reason, God will not accept their absurd answers to the meaning of life. Instead, He will only consider whether or not they accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior before they died. If not, He will say, “Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels” (Matthew 25:41).

Unless the two surrender their lives to Christ, they will spend eternity realizing they wasted their time “partying,” and that hell is not the funny place they joked about in their bogus adventure.
