More Detail:
Emma McKenzie is a successful installment designer, creating beautiful shop window displays. After she doesn’t get a job working on a New Year’s Eve display, Emma decides to travel with her father to Glenrothie, Scotland, where they hope to learn more about their family ancestry.
The pair arrives in Glenrothie, and Emma is dismayed to find a serious lack of Christmas decorations, because the town’s largest landowner, Duncan, prefers traditional and simple holiday celebrations. However, once the townspeople find out about Emma’s job, they beg her to help them win the annual Best Christmas Village Contest. A cash prize and tourism dollars are at stake.
Emma agrees and meets with Duncan, who allows her to decorate the town only if his son, Alex, assists her. Alex is not a fan of Christmas, preferring his father’s idea of a simple celebration. However, as he and Emma work on the town’s decor, his opinion starts to change. Emma and the townspeople work together on the decorations, paying tribute to their family histories, as well as Scottish traditions.
Disaster strikes when Glenrothie’s rival town gets wind of their decoration ideas and copies them, but Emma decides to extend her trip in Scotland and help come up with new ideas. She appeals to Duncan’s idea of a good Christmas, planning a traditional celebration at the family castle, and he agrees.
Right before the big Christmas party, Emma gets a call. The New Year’s Eve job she wanted earlier needs a new designer and the people want her to do it.
