FOUNTAIN OF YOUTH

"The Value of Life is Learned Along the Journey"

What You Need To Know:

FOUNTAIN OF YOUTH is an action adventure on Apple TV+. It follows Luke, a treasure hunter tasked with finding the Fountain of Youth by a billionaire who’s hoping it can cure his cancer. Along the way, Luke recruits his sister to help him crack riddles to locate the hidden artifact. The road to the fountain, however, isn’t easy. Along with all these puzzles, Luke’s team must outrun two organizations trying to track them down and stop them from succeeding.

FOUNTAIN OF YOUTH is entertaining and enjoyable, with lots of excitement, though it’s a bit predictable and derivative. The movie has a strong moral worldview. For example, good triumphs over evil, care for others is rewarded, and greed is punished. FOUNTAIN OF YOUTH also promotes the value of family. Luke and his sister grow closer and put each other first, even when their lives are on the line. However, the movie is marred by stealing, strong violence throughout its running time. FOUNTAIN OF YOUTH also has three strong profanities and some other foul language. So, MOVIEGUIDE® advises strong or extreme caution for mature viewers.

More Detail:

FOUNTAIN OF YOUTH is an action adventure movie on Apple TV+. It follows the adventures of Luke and his team who have been tasked with helping a dying billionaire, Owen, track down the Fountain of Youth to save his life. Though treasure hunting is the family trade, Luke is missing a piece to track down the mythical artifact – his sister, Charlotte, who gave up treasure hunting years ago to raise a family. Beyond cracking the codes in place to keep the fountain hidden, Luke and his team must also outrun two organizations trying to stop them.

As the movie starts, Luke is fleeing after stealing the fifth of six paintings his team needs to start the hunt. Each one has a letter to complete a secret code that will point them to the next crew. However, as he flees, he is pursued by two separate groups trying to recover the painting. One is led by the criminal from whom Luke stole the painting, and the other is led by a woman named Esme, who works for an organization tasked with keeping the Fountain of Youth hidden. Luke is able to escape from both groups and returns to his home base in England.

The final painting Luke’s team needs is a Rembrandt painting, which just so happens to be located in the museum his sister, Charlotte, curates. He visits her and steals the painting, dragging her along as well. After a high speed chase, however, they find that this isn’t the original painting and their hunt is yet to fully begin. Charlotte, however, tips them off that the real painting sits at the bottom of the ocean in a watertight container that sank with the Lusitania during World War I.

This proves to be no problem for the team, who, with Owen’s nearly limitless funding, is able to visit the ship and attach containers to it that allow it to rise to the surface. Once emerged, Luke and Charlotte board the ship and track down the painting. However, as they leave the ship, they must fight a team led by Esme.

Now able to start the hunt, the six paintings reveal that the next clue lies within a special set of King James Bibles that have a misprint in the Ten Commandments. To access one of these Bibles, they visit the National Library of Austria, which has one in its special collection. While looking over the book, they’re unable to find any clues, so they’re forced to steal the tome to further search it.

Their investigation is successful, and they find a clue in the gilding on the side of the Bible. The clue leads them to the pyramids of Giza. When they arrive, they force their way down toward tunnels hidden beneath the structures. After solving some more riddles, they find themselves in a large room. While Luke and his team descend, Interpol and Esme arrive at the top of the pyramid and begin tracking Luke’s team into the bowels of the pyramid.

The race to the fountain leads to some unexpected twists and surprises.

FOUNTAIN OF YOUTH is entertaining and enjoyable action adventure. Many of the plot points, however, are predictable and derivative, pulling from previous movies that portray the Fountain of Youth.

That said, FOUNTAIN OF YOUTH has a strong moral worldview. Good triumphs over evil, care for others is rewarded, and greed is punished.
