What You Need To Know:
(B, C) Biblical, redemptive worldview stressing the importance of family relationships, emphasizing positive moral values and showing that prayer is answered. The film contains no obscene language, no sexual immorality, and no violence.
The film GORDY will delight children and warm the hearts of the entire family. Gordy is a bright-eyed little piglet without a care in the world until one afternoon he discovers that his father, his mother and his brothers and sisters have been taken away in hog trucks bound for the slaughter house. Gordy sets out on a desperate quest to find his family. In the process, he is adopted by a little Jinnie Sue MacAllister who sings with her father’s traveling band. The next performance is the Governor’s Barbecue where a little boy named Hanky Royce, grandson of Henry Royce, founder of Royce Industries, falls into the pool, and Gordy dives in and saves him. The news media run with the story as the Governor awards Gordy a medal. Overnight, the Hero Pig becomes famous and the logo of Royce Industries! When Henry dies, Hanky is named sole heir with Gordy as the trustee. Gilbert Sipes, a scheming PR man who wants to control Royce industries, orders his henchmen to pig-nap Gordy.
GORDY is an uplifting, refreshing family film with a comic-book quality which contains no offensive elements and plenty of insightful humor . One slight distraction, however, is that some characters played their parts “straight” while others “hammed it up.” However, in the final analysis, GORDY is a hoot and a holler–a Hero Pig who will entertain and enlighten children and parents.
