MAGIC MIKE’S LAST DANCE

What You Need To Know:

In MAGIC MIKE’S LAST DANCE, male stripper and bartender Mike Lane is on a new adventure. This time he’s hired by a wealthy socialite named Maxandra to put on a show in London in a famous theatre. The goal is to show the wealthy women of society they can have it all – wealth, happiness and sex. While preparing for the show, Mike and Max develop a passionate romance. However, things get complicated when Max’s ex-husband tries everything in his power to stop the show from happening. Will Mike give his last performance as Magic Mike?

MAGIC MIKE’S LAST DANCE has some great lighting, amazing choreography and good acting. However, the storyline is overly simplistic and predictable. LAST DANCE isn’t a movie for children or teenagers, and discerning adults will want to avoid it. The movie has a Romantic worldview that encourages viewers to give into their passions uncontrollably. On top of that, MAGIC MIKE’S LAST DANCE is filled with half-nude male strippers performing raunchy dances, plus alcohol abuse and lots of swearing. It’s a boring finale to a raunchy movie series.

Content:

(RoRoRo, PaPaPa, LLL, V, SS, NN, AA, D, MM):

Dominant Worldview and Other Worldview Content/Elements:
Very strong Romantic, immoral, hedonistic worldview that’s almost the textbook definition of a Romantic attitude where he whole main theme and premise is that a woman can have everything she desires and that, to truly be happy, one must give into their passions, such as the main female lead finds true happiness from a one night interaction with a male stripper, and she wants to share that with the wealthy women of London, plus it seems that all the main problems in the story are solved when people give into their lust and do what feels right to them at the time

Foul Language:
At least 70 obscenities (half or so are “f” words), two GD profanities, one Jesus profanity and a few light profanities

Violence:
Minimal violence, the most substantial of which is an angry drunken woman smacks the title character and trashes her room while enraged

Sex:
Strong suggestive dancing, and two instances of implied fornication (in one, an unmarried couple lie in bed under a blanket post coitus)

Nudity:
There is an obscene amount of nudity in this movie, there were in fact forty five counts of nudity, and ninety percent of this is upper male nudity, usually provided by Mike and the other male dancers. The various other female nudity that is there includes a couple scenes where Maxandra is in bed, and the audience sees her shoulders, and the other examples are with a few girls wearing lingerie

Alcohol Use:
Moderate amount alcohol use includes scenes where title character works as a bartender, people drink brandy, alcohol use during one dinner scene, and female lead is drunk in two scenes where she throws a tantrum

Smoking and/or Drug Use and Abuse:
Two characters smoke;

Miscellaneous Immorality:
Strong miscellaneous immorality includes main villain blackmails female lead, female lead is divorced and a single mother, she lies to title character who becomes her lover, both of them gossip about rich people at a dinner they attend, and title character works as a male stripper.

More Detail:

With a hope of a final hurrah, Channing Tatum returns and reprises his most famous role of Mike Lane aka Magic Mike in the latest movie, MAGIC MIKE’S LAST DANCE.

After a business deal goes wrong, Mike finds himself working as a bartender down in Miami. There, he meets wealthy London socialite, Maxandra. After an intimate night together, Maxandra offers to fly Mike to be a director in a show in London. While there, Mike is thrown into the uncomfortable spotlight of high society, and he learns his true role. Maxandra is using him to put on a special strip show to make other women feel the same level of ecstasy she felt with Mike.

Although the two try to keep a professional relationship, both end up breaking their one rule while working together: they fall in love. Although originally drawn to London by money, Mike’s new goals are to make Max’s dreams come true by making the best show he possibly could make.

However, word gets to Max’s ex-husband about what she’s planning. He threatens to cut her off from her wealth and teenage daughter if she goes through with the show.

After hearing about this, Mike teams up with Max’s daughter, Phoebe, and her obnoxious butler, Victor, not only to save the show, but also to set Max free from her cage of high society.

Overall, MAGIC MIKE’S LAST DANCE has professional production values. The lighting, music, choreography, and acting are all excellent. However, the movie’s story quality is only serviceable. For example, the is overly simplistic and easy to predict, and there is only so much fun dance routines and Channing Tatum being shirtless that a moviegoer can take.

The movie’s overall worldview is completely Romantic. The whole theme and moral of the story are that women can have it all – money, love and sex. The movie shows that to be truly happy a person must give into their feelings and let passion be their guide.

MAGIC MIKE’S LAST DANCE is not a movie for any child to view, and discerning adults will want to avoid it. There are quite a few scenes where characters are not only drinking but getting intoxicated. In addition to that, there’s a high number of obscenities, including at least 30 “f” words and three strong profanities.

However, the primary issue with this supposedly final installment of the MAGIC MIKE series is the amount of sex and nudity. For example, there is lots of suggestive dancing involving male strippers taking off their shirts. There are also two or more instances where women are dressed in lingerie and two bedroom scenes with implied fornication. To sum up, therefore, MAGIC MIKE’S LAST DANCE is a raunchy, overly Romantic, obscene dramatic comedy that for a last movie of a series is disappointing and just not memorable.
