APOLLO 18

What You Need To Know:

APOLLO 18 opens with NASA announcing the cancellation of the last three Apollo launches, for budgetary reasons. It then shows the three-man crew of Apollo 18 getting the word they will go to the moon in a secret mission with a task of placing some earth observation equipment for the Defense Department. Arriving on the moon, the astronauts discover they’ve been sent to a location very close to the site of a disastrous Russian landing. The Russian craft has been severely damaged inside, and the cosmonauts are dead. As the story unfolds, the American astronauts come under attack from aliens only to learn that they were grossly uninformed about their mission’s true purpose.

APOLLO 18 progresses from boring to revolting. The horror of the alien attacks is presented with lots of static, brief glimpses of creatures that attack from within spacesuits. APOLLO 13 showed the incredible determination of everyone at NASA to return the crew of a damaged spaceship safely to earth. APOLLO 18 presents NASA and the Defense Department as dishonest, conniving masters using uninformed astronauts almost as bait in a hunt for information about nasty aliens they knew existed.

Content:

(PaPaPa, B, APAP, LL, VV, MMM) a generally pagan worldview with one brief positive mention of God but no reliance on God when circumstances get difficult, plus a strongly distasteful anti-patriotic presentation of NASA and the Department of Defense; eight obscenities and seven profanities; strong violence as violent creatures attack astronauts, including infecting their flesh; no sex or nudity; positive mention of having beers in “home movie”; and, ludicrous presentation of deceitful American government sending astronauts unprepared and uninformed into harms way.

More Detail:

APOLLO 18 is presented as if it was leaked footage from an episode in America history that NASA and the Department of Defense have sought to keep secret. This premise would be laughable were the “secret footage” not so disgusting. In fact, it is simply revolting to any American proud of the real Apollo program.

The movie opens with NASA announcing the cancellation of the last three Apollo launches, for budgetary reasons. It then shows the three-man crew of Apollo 18 getting the word they will go to the moon in a secret mission with a task of placing some earth observation equipment for the Defense Department.

Upon arriving on the moon, the astronauts in the LEM begin work setting up equipment only to discover they’ve been set to a location very close to the site of a disastrous Russian landing. The Russian craft has been severely damaged inside and the cosmonauts are dead. As the story unfolds, the American astronauts come under attack from aliens only to learn that they were grossly uninformed about their mission’s true purpose.

The movie progresses from boring to disgusting. The horror of the alien attacks is presented with lots of static and only brief glimpses of the creatures, which can attack from within spacesuits.

APOLLO 13, with Tom Hanks, showed the incredible determination of everyone at NASA to return the crew of a damaged spaceship safely to earth. APOLLO 18 presents NASA and the Defense Department as dishonest, conniving masters using uninformed astronauts almost as bait in a hunt for information about nasty aliens they knew existed.

Should such an event ever really have happened, you can rest assured any astronauts sent to learn about aliens would have been prepared with the knowledge and equipment to learn as much as possible and to return home safely. They would not have been sent like ignorant lambs to be slaughtered.

This example of the horror genre takes perverse pleasure in placing disgusting creatures within the bodies of humans, infecting them and driving them crazy. In reality, human beings are frequently infected from within – spiritually. Demons of lust, greed, anger, and fear adversely impact people’s behavior. People go to a movie like APOLLO 18 to get the rush of experiencing fear without having to put themselves in physical danger. What too many people fail to realize about movies is that you can put yourself in spiritual danger feeding on demonic messages.

Jesus Christ came to set men free from bondage to lust, fear, anger and depression. He promised his followers peace, joy and love. Rest assured, He will not lead any of his followers to see APOLLO 18 unless it is to review the movie and warn parents and children about it.
