More Detail:
BEST OF THE BEST 2 is a poorly made, poorly acted, martial arts film that tells the story of two former members of the U.S. Karate team avenging the death of their friend and teammate, who was murdered in a fight to the death in a secret, underground Las Vegas fighting arena called The Coliseum. Friends and partners Alex Grady (Eric Roberts) and Tommy Lee (Phillip Rhee) decide to go after the murderer, whom they soon discover is the owner and champion of the fighting palace himself, Brakus. When their friend’s battered and blue body is found in a nearby lake, Alex and Tommy know it’s no accident. They set out for the Indian village where Tommy was raised to begin training for a challenge of their own as they plan to bring down Brakus in his own ring. In a vengeful sort of way, good overcomes evil in this slow and tedious action drama. Regrettably, the good guys use the same methods as the bad.
The poor story line and shallow plot are only made more obvious by the stiff acting. The only exception being Eric Roberts. The production quality is very poor, as is the music soundtrack. BEST OF THE BEST 2 rates below a cheap, TV movie-of-the-week. The only good point is a positive father-son relationship.
