More Detail:

Phil Vischer delighted millions of children with his excellent animated series VEGGIETALES. Now, he brings us a new, delightful, animated holiday video titled BUCK DENVER ASKS. . . WHY DO WE CALL IT CHRISTMAS? It’s not only funny and thought-provoking, it also calls for commitment to Jesus Christ.

Christmas is approaching and famous animated newsman Buck Denver is depressed and confused. He even signs a song about spending money on Christmas, having to get presents, what is it all about, cutting down trees, hanging stockings, Santa Claus. What is the reason for this holiday? Why do we call it Christmas?

Just then, walking up the path to his remote Colorado cabin is his stage manager and the Sunday School lady. Immediately, they proceed to tell him he needs to throw a big Christmas party to get over his holiday funk. The problem is, he doesn’t have a phone or any other technical means of communication. So, he sends out flying squirrels to invite his friends.

One squirrel goes to Pastor Paul, who loves to play Christmas carols on the piano. Another squirrel finds Chuck Wagon somewhere in the West. And, a third squirrel flies over the ocean to find Captain Pete, who’s close to India. As each person journeys to Buck Denver’s home, more and more of the story of Christmas is revealed. Captain Pete takes a rickshaw driven by a bicycle-riding purple monkey with a strong Indian accent who knows all about Christmas.

What Buck Denver and all of us find out is the true meaning of Christmas, when Jesus was born, why is Hanukah close to Christmas, how Santa Claus is based on St. Nicklaus, where we got all the Christmas traditions of Christmas trees, ornaments, candy canes, and so forth. Even so, the question is, will Buck’s friends make it to his cabin to celebrate Christmas?

This delightful DVD not only presents fascinating information but it does so in the most imaginative, funny, entertaining way possible.
