This film is a wonderfully crafted and superbly documented narration of the history of the world and the biblical events that helped shape that history. Charlton Heston takes the viewer on an odyssey of gigantic proportion when he tackles the storytelling duties in the life of the Old Testament character Moses. From the birth of the baby Moses to the freeing of the Hebrew people to the mountain top where Moses left this earth, Heston fills in all the blanks with emotion and fervor reminiscent of his original role as Moses himself.
Even though the story of Moses is well known, Heston brings new life to his surroundings and the scriptures with impassioned portrayals and factual documentation. What a thrill to hear his booming baritone declare, “If you seek the Lord, you will find Him.” The filming is all on location, which adds authenticity as well as ambiance, and the photography is beautiful. To quote Heston on this work, “I’ve never done anything that excited me more, and I hope you, too, will share this experience with me.”
