More Detail:
LIGHT OF THE WORLD begins with John’s mother telling him the story of creation and promising him there’s a Messiah coming. However, his father is skeptical and prefers to focus on his immediate problems, like the taxes he must pay to the Romans.
John believes in the Messiah and, after hearing that a man named Jesus is said to be the Messiah, he sets off to find Him. John sneaks into a wedding and meets Jesus. There, he sees Jesus turn water into wine and believes that He’s the promised Messiah. John brings Jesus home, where he fills John’s family’s nets with fish. After seeing the fish, John’s father agrees to let him follow Jesus and become one of his disciples.
John starts helping to spread Jesus’ message, watching Him work miracles, such as healing Mary Magdalene and walking on water. John also listens to His stories or parables, like the story of the Good Samaritan.
Jesus and the disciples head to Jerusalem for Passover. There, Jesus is greeted by cheering crowds. That night, the events of the Last Supper take place, and Jesus is betrayed by Judas and arrested. He is beaten and marched through Jerusalem, then crucified.
John goes home to his family but doesn’t stop believing in Jesus’ message. A few days later, Jesus appears to John, his family and the other disciples before ascending into heaven. John’s father praises his son for his faith and asks John to help him learn how to follow Jesus.
