TWO NIGHT STAND

What You Need To Know:

The story of TWO NIGHT STAND, a romantic comedy, is just what its title suggests. A young man and a young woman in New York City decide to couple one night in the man’s apartment, but they get completely snowed in by a terrible blizzard the next morning. After they complain about how badly things went the night before, they decide to copulate again and teach each other intimate details most men and women never discuss. In between these lewd hijinks, however, they unexpectedly find themselves falling for one another. Their budding romance is endangered when the woman discovers the man is hiding a major secret. Can the young man win her back?

The success of TWO NIGHT STAND depends on its two stars. The good news for the movie is that they both deliver appealing performances that keep the movie’s limited narrative going. The bad news for media-wise viewers is that, despite a few positive moments, TWO NIGHT STAND promotes promiscuity and contains too much crude and lewd language. So, TWO NIGHT STAND ultimately is an unacceptable movie for media-wise viewers.

Content:

(PaPaPa, RoRo, B, LLL, V, SSS, N, A, DD, MM) Very strong mixed pagan worldview that includes an acceptance of promiscuity, mixed with strong Romantic elements regarding the battle between the sexes, a situation that corrupts men and women according to the movie and too often prevents them from achieving true intimacy, satisfaction and, eventually, emotional love and trust as a heterosexual couple, plus some moral elements in that honesty seems to be valued by the characters and woman says she would like to be a stay-at-home wife and mother, and the movie sees nothing wrong in that; 52 obscenities (many “f” and “s” words), three strong profanities (two referring to Jesus) and six light profanities such as OMG; light brief violence when woman throws an rock through a window; some depicted sexuality, implied sex, lots of explicit talk about sex, and movie promotes fornication, promiscuity and living together; brief rear male nudity in two scenes and woman in underwear; alcohol use; no smoking but some marijuana use; and, lying, breaking and entering, stealing food from another vacant apartment after being snowed in by a blizzard, man deliberately has woman arrested so he can talk to her again.

More Detail:

TWO NIGHT STAND is one of the better-made low-budget romantic comedies in recent years. It has a nice ending, but it also has too much explicit content and gratuitous foul language.

The story of TWO NIGHT STAND is just what the title suggests. A young man and a young woman in New York City decide to hook up one night in the man’s apartment, but they get completely snowed in by a terrible blizzard the next morning. After they complain about how badly things went the night before, they decide to hook up again and teach each other all the intimate sexual details that most men and women never discuss.

In between these lewd sexual hijinks, however, they unexpectedly find themselves falling for one another. Their budding romance is endangered when the woman discovers that the man was hiding a secret. So, the question becomes, can the man win her back, or will they just have to go their separate ways?

The success of TWO NIGHT STAND depends on its two stars, Miles Teller and Analeigh Tipton. The good news for the movie is that they both deliver appealing performances that keep the movie’s limited setting and limited narrative going. Some clever dialogue helps.

Happily, the movie promotes honesty and rebukes deceit. Also, the young woman at one point says she really wants to be a stay-at-home wife and mother, and the movie seems to validate her choice. In fact, one reason she becomes attracted to the young man is that having a spectacular career isn’t the most important thing in his life either. Thus, he’s content working at a bank.

The bad news for media-wise viewers, however, is that TWO NIGHT STAND contains too much explicit sexual content and too much strong foul language. The worldview is pretty much non-religious and promotes sexual promiscuity. It also promotes using marijuana. So, although TWO NIGHT STAND has some traditional, uplifting romantic comedy moments, it’s ultimately unacceptable.
