What You Need To Know:
Director Bob Weiss is renowned for his comic abilities but relies on crude humor and crass remarks to achieve this goal in this movie. There is no key relevance to today's society or the real issues filling the headlines. Many relatively famous actors join the principle cast in various cameos with many humorous moments. Aside from the stabs at comedy, no noteworthy acting comes through in the performances. Furthermore, the content is crude and even repulsive at times, and includes plenty of foul language and sexual innuendoes and references. SCARY MOVIE 4 also contains plenty of objectionable and offensive parts relating to politics, homosexuality, violence, and even racism. Most of the comedy relies on cheap, unfulfilling humor.

(PaPa, OO, HoHo, PCPC, AP, Ro, LLL, VV, SS, N, A, D, MM) Strong pagan worldview played mostly for crude laughs with strong occult content regarding a ghost, strong homosexual references, many politically correct instances of making fun of President Bush and his role on the day of 9/11, and some Romantic elements; at least 40 obscenities, including one "f" word, nine profanities, plus slang for body parts, filthy bathroom scene and other scatological humor; multiple acts of violence including causing death to others, although done sarcastically (nothing graphic or bloody), plus violence toward a child, depiction of loosing a limb and person bites off ears; some implied and depicted sexual immorality such as homosexual references and implied male homosexual sex, two men kissing passionately, and many sexual references and innuendos; rear male nudity, not in sexual context and clothed depiction of un-humanly large, erect penis after using a bottle of Viagra, plus woman in provocative lingerie; one instance of alcohol use; one crude scene of excessive Viagra use (see above); and, derogatory remarks and depictions of an Arab and African American, a sick abortion comment and several instances of harming others for self-benefit.

SCARY MOVIE 4 is, in the creator’s own words, irreverent. In the midst of poking fun at and “spoofing” multiple movies like WAR OF THE WORLDS, SAW II, THE VILLAGE, BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN, and MILLION DOLLAR BABY, and popular celebrities like Oprah Winfrey, the movie follows the escapades of a young woman named Cindy Campbell (played Anna Faris). Cindy finds out her house is haunted by a little boy, and she tries to find out who kills him and why. In the process, she is also thrown in with the “cute guy next door” as he tries to save the earth from invading aliens on tripods bent on world domination.

There were still great moments of special effects and scenes that grab the audience visually, but ridiculous satire and comedy often brings the viewer out of the moment. There are a few good jokes, however. One person, for instance, has a solution to defeating the aliens: “We’ll build our own tripods,” he says. “Ours will have four legs.”
SCARY MOVIE 4 also contains plenty of objectionable and offensive parts relating to politics, homosexuality, sex, violence, and even racism. There were plenty of funny moments, and the audience at the screening often erupted in laughter, but it was laughter brought about cheaply and with little or no taste.
