SNOW WHITE AND THE SEVEN DWARFS

Watch:

Content:

(C, B, O, V, M) Love triumphs over evil and allegorically raises the dead in this classic film which shows that hatred, envy & jealousy are evil. However, there are some occultic elements such as sorcery, evil spells & magic powers, as well as some genuinely terrifying moments & attempted murder which may be too intense for very young children.

More Detail:

A beautiful young woman oppressed by a wicked Queen dreams that one day her prince will take her away to a life of happiness in Walt Disney’s animated masterpiece, SNOW WHITE AND THE SEVEN DWARFS. Like many Disney films to follow, SNOW WHITE opens on a storybook. As the pages turn, the story unfolds of the orphaned girl brought up as a servant of a wicked Queen. When the Queen’s magic mirror informs her she is no longer the “fairest of them all,” Snow White must escape to the protection of the seven dwarfs until the wicked Queen finds her and tempts her with a poisoned apple. Eventually, true love prevails over this evil, witchcraft and death, and all ends happily ever after in this enchanting tale.

Praised as a masterpiece in 1937, SNOW WHITE AND THE SEVEN DWARFS still stands as a classic today. The musical score still rings familiar to the ears of everyone. To quote the original 1937 review in THE NEW YORK TIMES, “If you miss it, you’ll be missing the 10 best pictures of 1938,” or one of the ten best pictures of all time for that matter. Although many are concerned about the film’s portrayal of witchcraft which God condemns, it must be noted that the witchcraft is shown to be evil which can only be overcome by true love. This storyline can be a discussion starter to explore the concept of God’s love overcoming evil and death when the Prince of Peace rescues His Bride from the clutches of the adversary.
