Watch:

What You Need To Know:

Unjustly convicted of the murder of his wife, Dr. Richard Kimble is en route to prison when a fateful train crash sets him free to embark on a desperate quest to prove his innocence and expose his wife's real killer. Harrison Ford stars in THE FUGITIVE, an exciting and suspenseful thriller, reminiscent of the 1960's TV series, that promises to keep viewers on the edge of their seats.

Content:

(B, LLL, VV, M, PC) This "truth will set you free" tale is marred by 30 obscenities & 4 profanities (little of which comes from the two main characters); realistically violent train wreck with severe injuries, somewhat bloody scene of aftermath of a woman's murder (but not gory), man struggles with intruder, & a fist fight scene; deceit, deception & murder as part of the plot, but not justified; and, one character wears red AIDS ribbon and button saying, "HATE IS NOT A FAMILY VALUE."

More Detail:

Unjustly convicted of the murder of his wife, Dr. Richard Kimble is en route to prison when a fateful train crash sets him free to embark on a desperate quest to prove his innocence and expose his wife’s real killer. Harrison Ford stars in THE FUGITIVE, an exciting and suspenseful thriller, reminiscent of the 1960’s TV series, that promises to keep viewers on the edge of their seats. Tommy Lee Jones leads the dogged chase as the cagey Deputy U.S. Marshall, Sam Gerard.

THE FUGITIVE definitely does justice to the memory of the original story, while adding a few twists and turns of its own. The photography and directing are both excellent: night scenes of the city of Chicago; chase scenes through a sewer maze; hospital trauma-room action (where a disguised Dr. Kimble changes a young boy’s wrong diagnosis, thereby saving his life); and, of course, the incredible train/bus crash. There is a fair amount of foul language, provided mostly by supporting cast (further proving its needlessness), but no nudity or sex, and the violence is not gory or bloody to excess. The train crash is realistic, however, as is the aftermath of the murder scene. Kimble’s dream-time memories of his deceased wife are also treated with good taste. If it were not for the foul language, THE FUGITIVE would be the best adult action-thriller value of the summer, although it is definitely not for children.
