THE PERFECT HOLIDAY

Watch:

What You Need To Know:

In THE PERFECT HOLIDAY, Morris Chestnut plays Benjamin Alexander, a struggling songwriter working as a department store Santa Claus. One day, Emily, the young daughter of Nancy, a divorced mother of three played by Gabrielle Union, asks Santa Claus Ben for a man to give her mom a compliment. Out of his Santa outfit, Ben does just that, and Ben and Nancy start a romantic relationship. Complications ensue, when Ben starts lying to Nancy and when Nancy’s ex-husband, an obnoxious rapper who cares mostly about fame and fortune, causes trouble.

THE PERFECT HOLIDAY is one of the more poorly edited family movies to come along in recent memory. The script is a bit lame too. Only some of the performances, including the young actors who play Nancy’s children, save PERFECT HOLIDAY from becoming a disaster. The story and the comedy needs more work. Also, the movie’s Christian worldview should have been stronger. The angel that appears in the movie and the devilish imp who harasses her are not defined well. There also are a couple obscenities, a few light profanities and some issues about lying, which are ultimately resolved positively.

Content:

(C, BB, Ro, L, V, N, A, M) Light Christian worldview with strong moral elements and some light Romantic elements; two obscenities and seven light profanities such as “My God”; light violence such as child in danger dangling from a great height; no sex scenes but some kissing, sidekick appears to have girl somewhere in back of his apartment (perhaps the bedroom) where she is heard but not seen and a joke about Santa’s Ho Ho Ho; partial upper male nudity when man tries to put on Santa suit; woman plans to serve wine at a dinner; no smoking; and, lying lightly rebuked and angel and devilish imp characters are not well defined so they could lead to some confusion.

THE PERFECT HOLIDAY is one of the more poorly edited family movies to come along in recent memory. The script is a bit lame too. Only some of the performances, including the young actors who play Nancy’s children, save PERFECT HOLIDAY from becoming a total disaster, but not by much. The story and the comedy needs more work. Also, the movie’s Christian worldview should have been stronger. The angel that appears in the movie, who’s played by Queen Latifah, and the devilish imp who harasses her, who’s played by Terrence Howard, are not defined well. There also are a couple obscenities, a few light profanities and some issues about lying, which are ultimately resolved positively.
