THE THREE MUSKETEERS

What You Need To Know:

The film THE THREE MUSKETEERS provides yet another twist on Dumas' French classic, but this time combines comedy, action and adventure in its story line. This is a terrific, action-packed movie for the whole family. Mocking God is duly punished in the end and values such as loyalty and courage are commended. Because of killings related to sword fights and implied licentiousness, parental discretion is advised for young children.

Content:

(A/D, S, VV, M, Ab, B, L) Revelry scene involving drunkenness & implied sexual debauchery; threatened castration, killing (mostly through sword fights) & one graphic killing through impalement; deceitfulness--exposed in the end; mocking God (Cardinal Richelieu is justly punished for this); and, no obscenities or profanities.

More Detail:

Determined to avenge his musketeer father’s death and to join THE THREE MUSKETEERS (the King’s bodyguards), young D’Artagnon sets off for Paris during the reign of King Louis XIII. The young man’s bravado gets him into trouble, yet also provides an introduction to the King’s protectors. The group is led by three loyal and courageous men–suave Aramis, pensive Athos and lusty Porthos. The crux of the story revolves around a secret plot, masterminded by the evil Cardinal Richelieu, to topple the French monarchy and install himself as ruler. The nefarious Cardinal unlawfully disbands the Musketeers and proceeds to attempt to sign, without King Louis’ knowledge, a treaty with England. The evil plot is discovered by the three Musketeers (plus D’Artagnon), who must now fight to save France. In the process, D’Artagnon discovers who his father’s real murderer is.

This is a terrific, action-packed movie for the whole family. Mocking God is duly punished in the end and values such as loyalty and courage are commended and rewarded. Because of killings related primarily to sword fights and implied licentiousness, parental discretion is advised for young children.
